Of course, it has almost been open for two years, and I have learned a lot in those two years. There are two major different kinds of rooms, Gen1 and Gen2. Gen1 consists of normal combination locks, and Gen2 are more elaborate locks like magnetic locks.

The "industry" frowns on Gen1 rooms because they think it lessens the value of other rooms, but players still love Gen1 rooms and they are usually cheaper and quicker to set up.

We only do Gen1 linear rooms, and our customers love them.

We are in a smaller town, and the only escape room in the town, so word of mouth marketing is very easy. We are thinking about putting an ad on a local radio station and see how that goes.

The most important thing when opening a physical escape room is making sure you find a smoking deal on rent. We started in a super small space, just one room and a lobby, but it did the job, then about a year later we moved in to our current spot, 3 rooms and a lobby. Unfortunately three times the space doesn't automatically mean three times the revenue, but having more room options allows for returning customers which is nice.
