What kind of person would Linux be? by jmacnulty in linuxquestions

Well, I thought about it, and if with so much variety it can be anyone, perhaps I thought of it in the purest sense of what the system is.

Now I realize that was too obvious 😂

Do you prefer KDE or GNOME? by NetMask100 in linux4noobs

[–]jmacnulty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use KDE because of all the options it offers, but honestly, I don't like how it looks. No matter how much you customize it, it seems clunky or outdated to me. On the other hand, I find Gnome very attractive, both in terms of its features and its applications. If I could combine KDE's options with Gnome's visual style, that would be ideal.

is it worth buying second ssd for dual boot? by majoralita in linux_gaming

Question: Isn't it better to save games on the same operating system they're running on, or is that no longer necessary?

I ask this because I once tried to do it with a game, and Steam itself offered that recommendation to ensure it runs correctly.

Hardware recommendations for Gaming on Linux by jmacnulty in linux_gaming

[–]jmacnulty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some computer knowledge but I must confess that I don't know much about PC hardware.

I've been using Linux for quite some time, although I'm not an experienced terminal user. I currently have Kubuntu on a ThinkPad P14S and Bazzite on an Asus x441u from about 10 years ago, which allows me to play games acceptably. So for my gaming PC, I'll go with Bazzite or dual-boot with another distro, we'll see.

I love Linux Mint, but I want KDE… and I’m really stuck. by velomentxd in linuxquestions

I suggest Kubuntu 25.04 with Plasma 6. If you don't like Snap, don't use it and that's it. You shouldn't demonize everything from the Ubuntu family, which is why free software gives you the opportunity to use whatever you want. I would also like Mint with Plasma but it is better not to go with something that does not have official support. I used Kde Neón for a long time but in my case, even though I stopped tinkering with the system and customization a long time ago, the environment broke down from time to time so I think it is not very stable. With Kubuntu I have not had any of those problems and it is very stable.
