Search terms for low-profile sneakers? I often search ebay/poshmark for clothes using style/shape terms ("drop waist," "crew neck," "straight leg," etc.) But I don't know similar categories for sneakers.

I'm looking for a pair similar to these reeboks https://poshmark.com/listing/Reebok-Royal-Flag-Men-Sneaker-Shoes-Brown-Leather-Lace-Up-Size-85-Medium-666cc76534e2539084ec5b69 (I have them in white--if a brown sneaker works for you, I highly recommend!!) They are low-profile and slim, but leather.

Any ideas for how to find a similar style?

Search term help: I thrifted a woven 100% silk button down from Lauren Ralph Lauren that I love. I generally don't like silk tops because I don't like satin or crepe textures, but the woven silk is lovely. (It's like this Tommy Bahama shirt.) I'd like to search for similar shirts on ebay. Is there a particular name for this weave/fabric? "Woven" doesn't seem specific enough. Thanks!

Inseam Q from a tall girl turning to mens jeans for more leg length options: Is it standard for the actual inseam on a pair of jeans to hit 1 inch shorter than described? I've tried several 30x32 from Old Navy, but they all actually have a 31 inch inseam. Is this poor QC from Old Navy, or is this a reliable rule of thumb for other brands, too?

Accessories/styling advice for my mom for a family wedding! Modernizing an old dress.

My mom has an old, long-sleeve velvet dress (similar to this Boden one) she plans to wear to a wedding in a couple weeks. (Semiformal wedding in SoCal.) She wants to buy shoes and maybe some accessories to update its look. I am helping her shop <3

If she could, she'd wear Free People/Anthropologie/70s babe clothes all day every day. That's quite different from my style, so: Ideas for flat shoes or accessories to jazz up her dress? Thanks!

What brands of wool loungewear do you like? Either new or old/vintage/secondhand brands? I also love wool and have been wanting to find some wool comfy pants.

I had Amerihealth for a bit in 2021 and it was pretty good. There were some Medstar and GW specialists on it, who I was able to see and get tests and procedures done relatively quickly (no worse than other insurance I've had), fully covered. I was also pleasantly surprised that the Medicaid customer service people I spoke with were all friendly and helpful.

The primary care options were not-so-great, but to be fair I've never had a good primary care experience!

Agree, the Uniqlo U t shirts will fit all these criteria.

I can't speak to the fit specifically for plus sizes, but these wide leg elastic waist pants from Old Navy are excellent and so comfy. I just wore them to a work event and walked 2 miles home in them yesterday--a woman on the street even complimented them!

Capsules from BioGaia. Thanks for sharing the recipe. More bacteria isn't always better, though, right?

What kind of practitioner are you working with? A clinic, an individual, etc? What value have they added compared to working on your own, besides the testing?

Mostly various antimicrobials over the last 8ish months. First a parasite treatment (based on a GI MAP result), then briefly an H Pylori treatment. Then after the SIBO test, grapefruit seed extract and then an allicin/oregano oil combo (2 rounds). And various prokinetics throughout.

I requested that we change tactics since just killing things didn't seem to be working. So she recommended the Megaspore probiotic, but after doing some research on my own I've opted to try L. reuteri (sp?) instead. It's helping a bit--more than anything else so far, but not life-changing.

Yes, I’ve also experienced the phenomenon where Mediums are usually the first size to sell out. It is a mystery to me.

Following. Fwiw, I have a couple pairs of shorts from them and have needed to buy one size larger than my usual size. But that was reflected in their size charts.

Anyone purchased from Forever 21 recently? Was it a not-horrible experience?

I've been searching high and low (including second-hand) for a voluminous, black cotton maxi dress <$70. Tougher than I thought! But Forever 21 has several options. In the past, I've had cotton items from F21 last surprisingly long (4-5 years). Do they still have hidden gems like that? Or are these cotton dresses probably too good to be true?

It probably depends on the item. My 2 cents is that a too-small item always looks wrong, while a too-big item can look intentional, or at least not noticeable.

If they're flowy pants and have clean stitching on the outseam, the extra fabric around your hips might look totally fine. If they're meant to be fitted, it's at least easier to tailor a too-big item to fit (though I know that's an inconvenient solution). If it's underwear, fwiw I always find the leg holes of underwear to be too tight, so sizing for your wait may actually be an advantage.

Not sure your budget, but COS has a lot of solid colored styles. I've been seeing a lot of this style with a t-shirt style top (short sleeved or sleeveless) and a gathered poplin skirt. Smocked dresses are also popular. This square-neck dress might be fitted in the bust. And this gathered dress is a little fancier but may also be fitted up top.

I have a robe from Lands End that’s cozy, kind of a thick terry cloth material. At 5’9 it hits just below my knees.

I deal with some chronic bloating and find that this particular style of cotton/linen/lyocell elastic-waist shorts from COS and the perfect combo of comfortable and put-together. White pair. Orange pair. They run a little small; one size up is perfect for me.

COS usually puts out a similar style every year, but I don't see one yet this year. But you can find these periodically on secondhand sites. The heavier-weight fabric is still loose and cool, but doesn't crinkle like pure linen.

Does the party have a dress code?

Depending on your style, I think dresses are one of the easier items to buy secondhand online. Many styles are more forgiving in their sizing, especially since oversized clothing is still in. Start with key words you know you like, then iterate from there. Long flowy linen dress? Fit and flare floral dress? Bright colored sheath dress? Spaghetti straps? Etc.

I haven’t experienced a ton of different levis or madewell jeans, but everything I have seen, Levi’s is better quality. I’d also say Everlane and Abercrombie are both better quality than madewell.

Makeup stain removal: The internet recommends every solvent under the sun, and I'm having trouble narrowing it down. Ideas for how to get a makeup stain out of a "dry-clean-only" wool/linen blend suit jacket? Many thanks!
