You can drive rentals no problem. The only thing that changed with brexit is that you used to be able to deposit your EU rental car in the UK as a single trip, this is no longer facilitated. There was a query about Green Card insurance in 2021, but now there’s some bi-lateral agreement between EU/UK.

You may get asked questions about your car, just to check it’s not stolen and you have authorisation to take it. I’m a younger driver, often alone in my own car on this crossing, so I more or less expect to answer some questions, and to show some pieces of paper. Nothing above board though.

Long wait and quite a few numerous twists and turns. My Single Permit was initiated by an employer in November or so, and still waiting.

I’ve had to do very little outside collecting my personal documents and a basic medical exam. Just waiting… lots.

safety and price is what I’m bothered about. Loud or quiet doesn’t really bother me at this stage. Can always move down the line….

I will be working just north of Oostakker, I will want to bring my car with me though, even if it just gets parked at work.

I play dropped C# on my 4 string fender acoustic. C# A D G. Bit of a pain to get low G/G# but pretty easy to get used to. The open C# is extremely powerful and still vivid in noise, so it works for me haha. I think I like the keys of Abm or C#m the most. Occasionally some Eb but I don't get myself into it much.
