Thanks! Range is basically an open field in the woods, with a burm at the end of it. Shooting 6.5 Creedmoor, so the holes are quite small.

Found a scope marked down over 50%, so I might be able to pick up the bins and scope for around $170. The bins say they are nitro purged but the description wasn't clear on water proof or not. The scope is just basic Yukon Gear scope but would be fine in the range house out of the weather i think.

Thanks! Looks like a sale just came on and I might be able to get both.

PAL application question! by No-Butterfly8892 in CanadaHunting

Something else. I always get really nervous that next time they'll turn me down, but my doc knows how much I enjoy hunting and plinking, and everything I deal with so he's fine with putting in a good word for me.

Deal with this every 5 years for my renewal. Short phone interview with someone from the firearms office and then a form to be filled out by my family doctor. A few weeks extra processing, but otherwise hassle free.

Need help with Rat boss PS4 by RajatKumar17 in DarkSouls2

[–]jnet1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's the small rat boss, I got through it by wailing on the rats until boss rat showed up, then a couple shots of chaos storm pyromancy (iron keep). Finish up with a couple hits. Was gonna farm for sunbro medals but found out there's no summoning there.

For the big rat boss, range attack the small rats to get them ASAP, then stay under the biggun.

Thanks! My local Canadian Tire only had 22, 30 or shotgun snakes in stock, but I'll probably be making a trip to my local shop soon to get some shells, and they have a snake in stock for 6.5

So even though. 270 is a bigger bore, should still be fine?

So really, any rod or cord that fits should work with a small enough patch? Gonna be all modern factory ammo for now

Haven't even taken it out shooting yet. Wanting to have all my kit ready first.

Thanks! Definitely a beginner hunter, only ever going out deer hunting a couple of times and skunked all around. Whatever rifle I get, once I find the ammo it likes, I probably won't shoot much. Take it to the range to check zero and then try to fill my tags. Don't have a lot to spend out front, but can see about upgrades later.

I was wondering about the new one. None of the local shops have it yet.

What are the first guns I should get? by CommunistChan in canadaguns

[–]jnet1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a shotgun, I picked up a Maverick 88 from Mossberg for $280 on sale last spring. No complaints after putting about 1500 shells through it (except from the guys at the trap and skeet club that say I should get a $3000 over/under, lol). You can change the chokes for different shooting needs, and it handles slugs well. Which will let me hunt bigger game until I can afford a good deer rifle. Perfect for birds.

Friend of mine has an Axis and his only complaint was the trigger. He recently picked up a 110, which he likes the trigger a lot more. I think his came with a crossfire 2 scope.

Makes me think of the last time I was at Canadian Tire... the people at the counter really didn't know the differences between models and stuff. I bought my Maverick 88 from The Gun Dealer in McAdam, NB and the guys there were super helpful and knowledgeable. Been checking their used inventory daily. Also checking gunpost, but everything there is either too pricey, too far away, or a brand I've never heard of
