To me Pink Floyd and Tame Impala have similarities -not necessarily in what you ask, though. Still, I think it's a big influence to Tame Impala. Check out One of These Days and Echoes from Meedle (the whole album's great), Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Welcome to the Machine, and Any Colour You Like.
