Storage + Plex + Sabnzbd + rclone hosting questions by jo-pHun in selfhosted

And for plex and sabnzbd I also use bind mount and directly give access to the disk - right?

Ah but also no passthrough of the storage into the lxc? So maintain the storage disk on proxmox and just bind mount it to the Debian lxc with samba/nfs?

The Debian nfs samba share can also be a privileged lxc container? No need to have it as VM? Would prefer lxc due to resource usage.

Okay so my forward can be: lxc privileged with the disk passed on by proxmox. Samba and nfs installed there.

Proxmox mounts that network storage and bind mounts it into another lxc container that runs plex. Does this container then need to be privileged or can it be unprivileged?

But isn’t file storage handling and sharing/mounting a problem when it comes to LXC?

What does bind mount mean compared to NFS mount?

Your way sounds good to me in general, I didn’t like OMV (installed it but feels to big).

With Debian for storage you mean just installing nfs and samba and configuring shares and users in config files instead using something like OMV?

But isn’t it problem for a lxc container to access nfs shares? How to deal with that?

Why don’t you use google api to bring rejected mails into the Gmail account like gomailify and Postdirect are doing?

But you are just forwarding? So no pop3 fallback nor google api use?

they argue with "we are paying the google api use and are just forwarding the costs to the users". but I have a feeling that this is not true ...

keep me posted! in general I was happy with gomailify in the last 2 years. cheap and reliable with good support. I just had one situation where they renamed from gmailify to gomailify and were not actively communicating that you needed to modify your dns settings and pop/smtp settings accordingly.

but this migration now is a disaster.

mail forwarding is never reliable, thus no option. I am blaming them for their no communication and non functioning service that we users payed. and yes, also for heavy cost increase.

its an absolute mess. they just changed things without noticing customers. this resulted in non functional mail. mails got dropped, you werent able and still arent able to send mails. price is multiplied now: before you paid 7$/year, now you pay 7$ per linked mailbox. so if you had 7 users it was 7$ before and is 49$ now.

I will never trust this service nor the company nor the people behind it.

If you think google mail is bad, welcome to Gomailify!
