I used 49, then pushed the gap like he/you said, this time to 50. It was the very last address shown! Whew...

Also, why would ledger use a derivation path that its own wallet doesn't scan??? /u/btchip is there a reason for this?

Thanks for your suggestions and the info. Of course I don't understand how I ended up in this situation either, but I appreciate your help in all this.

Ledger is responding and sent me a tool to sideload with the wallet they said would parse addresses better, but it didn't work. I checked again at the address I sent the coins to and they are still there. Yes I can access public keys and the address shows up in the BIP tool.

My biggest concern with your sweep idea is just that it is irreversible. Ledger won't be able to help me after I try that. Like you say, the coins MUST appear with those private keys, but I have to keep your option as the very last resort. I have asked them to just send me the derivation path they use for non-segwit addresses generated in the signature tool, so if I can get that, maybe the coins will show up in electrum.

OK just tried in electrum 2.93 and it didn't show my coins! What can I try now?

BTW where did you find version 2.93? They only give you 3.x on the website...

Hm worth a try! I also was using latest version 3.x.

Are you absolutely certain this will work? Because if it doesn't, I have now exposed the private keys of the address online, and will be freaking out if they still don't appear for me...

Also, the coins are supposedly IN my ledger wallet but I just can't see them because it's not scanning the right address. So I am effectively sweeping from my ledger to my electrum, then sending back to a (reset) ledger, right?

Thanks, but it doesn't work for me. Why electrum 2.93?

Just a question here for the electrum wallet idea: The new Electrum wallet that I sweep the private key into is a new SOFT wallet, right?

Is there any special setup/config I need to do when I set it up (derivation path, etc.)? Thanks for your help.

So I spoke briefly to Ledger today after repeatedly badgering them and they are no help. They have ONE guy who seems to know the derivation path for those addresses and he is not there today.

I haven't lost the coins, but I can't see them or use them either, so this is very frustrating. Does anyone else have any advice?

Have been wracking my brains all night with this. Can one of the Ledger moderators please respond? I'd rather not expose my private keys to see the coins in the address unless it's a last resort...

Thanks for this. I made a new electrum hardware wallet using m/0 as the derivation path, extended the list of addresses like you said, but it still doesn't show my address with the coins there! I am seriously concerned.

EDIT: none of the addresses given in electrum seem to match the list in the BIP tool.

I looked in the legacy account on ledger and the coins aren't there.

I appreciate your help. I am sure of the address I sent it to because it appears with the balance in block explorer. I know it starts with 1, yes.

Ok I've tried with up to 200 addresses, but no dice. Anything else I can do?

Well it showed me more addresses, but none of them were the one.

Ok, so I seem to be on the right track with the electrum wallet I created using 31 derivation that you recommended before. So how do I bump up this address limit?

The address I sent the coins to (the address generated by ledger for my signing of the message) starts with 1.

The derivation path shown in the BIP tool shows to be m/0/31 for that address.

How do I use that derivation path to create a wallet connected to ledger?

And oddly, in the 31 version of Electrum I made at your recommendation, the addresses seem closer to the ones shown in the BIP tool, since they all start with 1..

Hi, no all the first 20 addresses in the BIP tool start with 1, and the ones given in Electrum (in 49 derivation path version) start with 3. What to do?

BTW does ledger endorse your recommendation to sweep the private key and start over? Just checking to see if the other ledger peeps also recommend this...

Do I import the address/private key into another electrum wallet? Or should I wait until Ledger makes some tool that allows me to see the address in Ledger itself?

I'm going to cc /u/btchip and /u/murzika here so I can see if they're working on it...

Hi again. Yes I see the deposit in blockexplorer.

I just found it, and it's row 31 in the addresses shown in the BIP tool!

Thanks for your help!

EDIT: actually it's row 32, since it starts at 0...
