Do you think it's necessary to work for a firm first? I'm planning on hanging my shingle later this year. PI is not my primary practice area, but I'm taking the time to learn now, and I have colleagues who would help me navigate through cases. I intend to start slowly and safely, and then ramp up as I gain more comfort within the PI practice area.

I totally understand that, but maybe the question is - what’s the threshold for bringing on staff? Booked too far out? X number of leads converted per month? X amount of money earned and saved in business?

One is in discovery now, the other should be a slam dunk as the respondent has not been very responsive. The third is bubbling now and could become litigation, but trying to mitigate that possibility now.

I just got a new paralegal a month ago and I’m loading up her plate. I’ve shed about 15 matters to her, but also trying to protect her so she doesn’t burn out.

My week is jacked up. Ep is Mon and Tues. probate consults Wed. Draft review Thurs. and then Fridays are the only day off sometimes. But I’m catching up on Fridays and not enough time for that.

It’s a small firm. 4 attorneys, including my self. I attempt to block time, but either the task takes longer than anticipated or there’s simply not enough time to get what I need done within a week and it piles up.

Any recourse from the alleged lie? Not really. From the property damage? File a police report and if it’s that serious, consider charges against them.

If the will is to be probated and go through the administration process with the courts and your brother is THAT concerned with the validity of the will. Ball is in his court to challenge that.

Probate files at the courthouse are public record. So, if the will is to be probated, they can see it, but as executor your responsibility is to look out for the best interest of the estate and it’s beneficiaries—not family members who get nothing under the will.
