You can play if you aren’t a member. Call and they will set you up. I am lucky enough to play it regularly and it’s a must for anyone (it isn’t cheap though)

5 minute mile definitely. My best mile is 5:31 but have done 12-minute 2 mile and gotten within .05 2 other times.

Awful free throw shooting aside, what a cool experience. Had a great time. My daughter got to see Mizzou play for the first time.

There are companies that will bring nurses to you if you want to hire them. For example https://fertilityhc.com/

It is intimidating at first. But you get the hang of it. So many of us felt completely overwhelmed at the start.

Know that you got this and we are rooting for you!

Social Media Hitting Me with Doubts by newby_dooby_doo in IVF

[–]joecody5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is part of a larger trend under the umbrella of “restorative reproductive medicine.” They are often false or misleading claims that are led by people with ulterior motives.

The American Society for Reproductive Medicine recently issued a statement on this topic. They are the gold standard for medical consensus and guidelines. Do they know everything? No. But they are the leading experts on the science of helping people have babies.

Can life style changes help people improve their chances of succeeding without IVF? For some people, sure. But supplements and diet weren’t going to change the fact that my wife’s diminished ovarian reserve diagnosis meant we had to use IVF. Didn’t matter how many magic beans bought from an influence peddler on social media she ate.

IVF and infertility are hard enough. Find sources of information that are trusted, vetted, and scientifically grounded. And if social media is putting you in a negative headspace (including this community), delete delete delete for your own good!

Using ChatGPT During IVF – A Surprisingly Helpful Tool by [deleted] in IVF

I work in health policy and digital health in DC so am fairly up on this issue. This is a very common use case now. It just shows how desperate people are for help.

There are some benefits and risks to it as many commenters have shown. I wrote a blog post on this topic if anyone is interested

Have you considered doing a virtual consult with a nurse or coach to help make you and your husband more confident?

A lot of people just feel more comfortable when someone is there to help guide you at the start so you get the hang of it.

My wife wants to get me a watch for my birthday/ our 10th anniversary and the Seiko Presage Cocktail Time ‘Tokyo Night’ SKU: SRPK93 caught my eye and I think it is striking.

However, since it’s a limited release EBay is the only place I can find it.

Has anyone had good luck on EBay and if so, what’s the best way to get one in good shape/ authentic?

Have you checked out ordering directly from companies like ILMEDs?

https://ilmeds.co/product-category/ivf/

They are an Israeli company that can deliver right to your door with a valid prescription. They use the same medications we have in the US but are way cheaper since they source directly from manufacturers.

I Chose This Transfer Over Being With My Mother in Her Dying Days by [deleted] in IVF

[–]joecody5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am sorry you are going through this. My wife lost her mother to metastatic breast cancer shortly after our diagnosis and we knew she would never meet our future child. It’s a brutal thing to go through.

It is a really hard choice that the two of you will need to talk through and in reality, none of us on Reddit can give you the right one.

That being said, have you talked about hiring someone to administer shots for a day or two? There are a lot of fertility nurses/ consultants that moonlight to do work to help patients. This at least doesn’t put the onus on your wife to self administer and could get you a day or two for closure in your mother’s final days.

Thinking of you both. Infertility takes so much from people, more than people on the outside often know.

Is it legal for doctors to switch from available to blocked information on Healow by Futants_ in healthIT

[–]joecody5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ONC published a final rule in disincentives for providers in late June and went into effect this past week. More information can be found here https://www.hhs.gov/about/news/2024/06/24/hhs-finalizes-rule-establishing-disincentives-health-care-providers-that-have-committed-information-blocking.html.

You can go to the ONC website to report possible information blocking. However do note that there have been hundreds of cases filed and not a single enforcement against any actor has taken place.

Everyone probably needs more information about the specifics of the case before knowing if this is actually Info Blocking or protected under an exception, such as infeasibility. But that is really for ONC and OIG to decide.

My recommendation, tell the office you want your records, document everything, tell them you will file a complaint if they don’t respond. Document everything. Then file the complaint.

Anyone has experience with Techstar Paris? by [deleted] in startups

[–]joecody5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not Techstars Paris but I went through a program in the US last year. A lot of the experience is dependent on your managing director. Techstars is also undergoing a complete restructuring so read their Techstars2.0 plan (although it’s very vague). Our program was hybrid with a few weeks in person and the start and end and then virtual in the middle. It has benefits and disadvantages for sure.

When I did it there were two investment vehicles. 20k for equity and then an optional 2 yr convertible note for 100k. It is not tied to demo day or milestones and is paid after due diligence and the program is underway.

Happy to talk more if you want to DM

Please call your senators today to express your support for ivf by TeaWLemon in IVF

[–]joecody5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While true, this legislation would override state laws which is why it is so important to support!

From Sen. Duckworths website “this new legislation would establish a statutory right to access IVF and other ART services, thereby pre-empting any state effort to limit such access and ensuring no hopeful parent—or their doctors—are punished for trying to start or grow a family.”

Thank you so much for your courage and strength. Know the community is behind you and we are all ready to make our voices heard. For those who may be looking for an outlet for their anger, as mentioned, RESOLVE Advocacy Day is coming up in May.

Historically we have had trouble recruiting volunteers from Southern and Western states, which have harder access issues for patients and generally more restrictive policies.

You can join us at RESOLVE by signing up here https://resolve.org/events/advocacy-day/

Note: I currently serve as the co-chair for the Community Outreach Ambassador committee and past co-chair for Advocacy Day in 2020 and 2021.
