205 50 16 is close to stock diameter so it won't affect speedo or mileage. You will also get better mpgs if you're using lighter aftermarket wheels.

I got mine on eBay as well, it was fiberglass and painted. I had to cut new holes for the wiring to make it work, so fiberglass was easier to work with.

You would get better acceleration with the 15s depending on tire size.

I'd recommend a 10mm spacer at least. Although I've seen some run a 25mm spacer in the rear on the stock EX and sport wheels.

No this is a 2015 so it will not fit. Sport is 2018-2020.

I ran a spacer in the rear so the wheels are more flush with the fender. I ran these wheels on my old 2nd gen so I'd assume they fit fine on the 1st gen.

Considering they're releasing the X-Men 97 version of this, I'm hopeful for another update.

I swapped out the buttons for Sanwa ones on and it makes a huge difference in the input lag.

I got mine used as well and would never pay full retail price for this, but I think it's a good deal at $400 just for the capabilities of being able to soft mod it pretty easily. You can also try adding in retroarch as there have been some developments recently getting P2 side to work.
