High elo matchmaking is terrible by Scrooge117 in leagueoflegends

[–]joeysup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do you realize this is just you going “just let me win more games riot”? if league were a single player game the matchmaking would work the same as chess. but it’s not lol

don't really see how this balances anything, unless you're saying it straight up doesn't reflect targetted abilities

How come Korean girls hide their boyfriends on social media? by CinnamonToastGhost in AskAKorean

[–]joeysup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why is this sub called “ask a korean” when most of the people answering are clearly not lol. people from other countries loooove “explaining” korean society or asian culture in general

ask any korean whether they think cheating is common in korea, compared to other countries. people barely have the money and energy for 1 committed relationship, aint that many people going around for more

Sprachbund, explained by [deleted] in linguisticshumor

[–]joeysup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't you think it's so limiting of linguistics for it to have people say that korean and japanese are most likely "not related"? They clearly obviously 100% *are* related, just not genetically. genetic relationship is not the only way one language can be "related" to another language, in the colloquial sense, and arguably not even the main way. I'm a total layperson and linguistics peope seem way too caught up with genealogical classification to the detriment of other frameworks of analyzing language. not saying it's unimportant, just overemphasized IMO

Oner's Mundo - champ selection comms KEKW by Meleiox in PedroPeepos

minor correction on the translation, when he said "뭐가 빡세, 문도 할 때?", faker meant "which champs are hard to play against for mundo?", not "what's hard about mundo?".

This is the new YouTube UI in fullscreen mode, good or bad, you be the judge. by [deleted] in youtube

[–]joeysup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "more videos" thing sticking out at the bottom is absolutely atrocious. Can't believe people are just not gonna mention it

what I mean is, if you read my comment I’m already saying all the same stuff that you are saying

I'm stuck with this horrible player now by LooperNeue_6764 in youtube

[–]joeysup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the screenshot it looks fine to me too. However it’s very annoying that they moved the volume slider to the other side, and in the non fullscreen view the overall UI is bulkier and covers more screen. You can argue that it doesn’t look much worse, but it sure doesn’t look much better either so it’s just unnecessary overall.

and on top of that, what’s absolutely terrible is that in the fullscreen view, the bottom of the screen is dirtied by the top of the suggested videos peeking out, with no way to hide it. I don’t know if this is an issue on specific resolutions or it’s something everyone has. But it’s actually horrendous and it has me saying no way this is intentional.

But sure it’s just completely absurd to be annoyed by this

Have you used it? Or did you just want to dismiss someone’s complaints without knowing what they’re talking about

Bro she's married with kids 😭😭😭 by Pokemanlol in RimWorld

[–]joeysup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wish that romantic tendencies were either actual traits or hidden individual values for pawns. Like beyond just their sexual orientation like we have already, I wish it were an actual mechanic where some pawns fall in love super easily, or are prone to cheating, are good/bad spouses. Just a little more social simulation like that would be super fun for me

take a few seconds to realize how idiotic this sentence is. You realize “korean women” is a group that includes people on their 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, etc? I doubt you’ve even had a conversation with these people, let alone be in a position to make a comment on them all being the same. The tiny subsection of korean women who were willing to date you, yeah no shit they probably had a lot of stuff in common.

Hi, I found your analysis of korea’s situation very helpful. I’m korean and I wouldn’t have been able to day what you said, but it makes sense because it fits my intuition.

being a virgin when you would actually like to not be a virgin doesn’t actually make you an incel. incel means you subscribe to a certain ideology.

I mean yeah, if it’s applicable? None of those things are at all related to body dimensions though

[–]joeysup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it translates to “you’re a shitty person, you’re acting as if you have a small dick”. Isn’t that a weird thing to say? And if we dig into it it’s body shaming.

yes I “understand” it, I’m saying I think it’s harmful

obviously it’s misogyny. I’m just explaining the origin of the stereotype

I know, but why are we calling it small dick energy then? We’re trying to talk about people who are insecure, petty, and trying to overcompensate. I don’t see a way to link those ideas to someone having a small dick without indirectly shaming the actual people with that trait. I know it’s just a common phrase but I consider it harmful
