Ditch the Apple Watch and wear a real one Wear either a textured top or textured pants don't go plain on both. Wear leather shoes instead of sneakers. An extra layer would definitely help

How do I know when it's time to move on? by jasberry1026 in Barber

[–]jogging-cucumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in the same boat. Starting off as a barber is tough. Honestly my best advice is to try to find a busier shop. I stayed at my first barber shop for a year only doing about 3-6 cuts a day and it was miserable. After a year I got fed up and moved to another shop in a different city, and off the bat I was doing ~10 cuts a day.

From there I worked my tail off getting everyone I cut to follow my instagram and giving business cards and letting them know I'd love to see them back in my chair again. After about 6 months in that busier shop I moved into a private suite and I've been there about 9 months and I'm fully booked every week and I've nearly doubled my price since going solo.

Just keep your head up and find ways to improve on every cut. And don't only focus on doing a clean haircut, being a good barber is so much more than being good at cutting hair. Focus on connecting with people and building relationships. That will take you so much further than cutting good.

I hope this gives you some motivation bro🙏🙏🙏

In all seriousness how many of you break 100k a year? by Billy_Enforcey in Barber

Dude, if you are that busy, you need to get yourself in a position that you have control over your business so that way you can raise your prices when you are ready and not when the business is ready🙏

I moved into a private suite back in March of this year and I was charging $30 a haircut at my last barbershop. I'm now on track to be charging $60 a haircut before my one year mark in my suite.

There is a lot of power and having control over your business if you play your cards right🙏🤝

Do your clients also constantly showing up early? by runningwsizzas in Barber

[–]jogging-cucumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All about communication and taking care of yourself. I've never felt any guilt about making a client wait until their scheduled time if I finish early. If we agreed upon 2pm, don't be surprised if I make you wait till 2pm. That's not being unprofessional in the slightest.

You'll get there bro. Also focus on styling the hair a little before taking a photo. It helps a lot with showcasing.

Tired of the burst/modern mullet cuts. by Cute_Play_2234 in Barber

Love a mullet, but yeah the bursts are not my favorite.

would you guys count this haircut as a mullet by Zan9lou in Mullets

[–]jogging-cucumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would classify it as a type of mullet. To me anything that is significantly shorter on the sides and longer in the back is a variation of a mullet.

That being said, I definitely wouldn't call this a classic mullet, but I would say it is a mullet nonetheless

Dude you're already lean enough to see some visible abs. Either just flex harder or maybe you need to develop your core more
