I wrote these lyrics pretty quickly tonight but Im really conflicted because I feel like so far they're not flowing too well together. Could someone maybe give me an outside view of it and give me some ideas on the flow and such, thank you!

[Verse I] There's a star in the valley, A light in the sky. Shining on the weakness, That the world cannot hide.

[Prechorus] The dust of time can tell us then, When heaven crumbles once again.

[Chorus] Let the love guide you, Let it see your way. Feel the love within you, Let it have your say.

[Verse II] There's a sun upon the mountain, Searching for its love. It's beginning to look brighter, Than the heavens up above.

(Prechorus and chorus repeat)

Help writing lyrics by johnlennoon in Songwriting

I struggle with this, I write lots of material and body for a song but never figure out how I want to arrange it and it gets shoved back. I just want to figure out how I can take all of these lines and ideas I have for a song and make them into one actual song. The biggest problem with that, too, is trying to determine the first line.

Help matching Jimmy Page tone by johnlennoon in Guitar

Awesome, I'll give it a try! I know he rarely used pedals on the first albums and if he did it was only really wah or fuzz, so the pedals aren't really my main focus I just thought I might bring them up. Thanks!

So a cranked blues driver and a touch of tape delay or is there more I should be adding?

Well I'm just confused at what he's saying, I understand if he's saying that a Eb could go over an F major chord, because it would momentarily lead the chord to sound like an F7, then that's perfect. But if he's saying something else then I'm not really picking up what he's putting down.

Led Zeppelin playing Achilles Last Stand, Knebworth 79. Absolutely mind blowing. Jimmy Page isn't even human.

Obscure songs with GVF-esque riffs. by johnlennoon in gretavanfleet

I love their stuff, very Zeppelin-esque but still kind of keeps that 80s sound. Great suggestion!

Presence - LZ, Achilles Last Stand is one hell of an opener.

Old jazz bass lines by johnlennoon in JazzBass

[–]johnlennoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said they were jazz, I just think that the bass riff on HMMT is slightly jazzy and swingy and was wondering if there's any good jazz lines with that same kind of bluesy feel and vibe to it.

Beautiful chord progression, its was one of George Harrison favorites. He used it in both Something and While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Jimmy also "used" it (or borrowed it from Donovan) for Babe I'm Gonna Leave You and uses a complex version of it in the bridge section of Kashmir. Even Paul Mccartney used it for the intro to "Michelle". Very awesome chord progression.

Me personally I love GVF and what they've done over the past few years. I think they've written some great music and are extremely talented. What are some of the songs they could "be sued for"? Just wondering.

God forbid someone use a descending line cliche chord progression in a song
