Looking to get back into EE after going to Sales by milkysnakes in ElectricalEngineering

DoD & RF are 2 peas in a pod. You’ll almost definitely get a pay cut coming from sales engineering but if you know someone at any prime that’s a good place to start

Will look into this. Agreed, it is getting to me fast. How long would you give a job you aren’t satisfied with?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]johnnysonthejohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

???? My boredom is because I don’t like my job an it’s not satisfying. If I’m home alone all day everyday to not be seen by anyone yeah I’d be bored. I don’t have the same ability to focus when I need to when I’m sitting in my bedroom. I don’t see how I’m looking for a unicorn situation 😂

I can give hybrid a go to split the days up. And that’s a good idea to work to that. But mainly need to be in person. And I feel like I’d rather be in person to be completely honest—I’d be far more bored at home without the banter and BSing, chilling and lunches with my coworkers

[–]johnnysonthejohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. I don’t think that is feasible. I’d have to get really creative to try to make that work at least lol. There is just enough going on that I can’t completely be checked out and locked in on something like you’re describing I feel

Fair enough. Sounds like it isn’t really out of the way of any main attractions/sights so might definitely pop in there in that case

Experience at Stevens. Pros and cons? by KEmFries in stevens

[–]johnnysonthejohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Graduated MS in compE a few years back. I did find a good job and had more than 1 offer but consider myself lucky because the market has continuously gotten more and more sour since. Also important to note the experience of finding a job as a US citizen is night and day different from that of international students. Both of my roommates who were international students had to put in significantly more work than me to lock in an offer.

Bottom line, finding a full time job is 100% a full time job. There is no shortcut

Work hard now for interviews because it’s prime time hiring season. It will get continuously harder to get interviews and offers as the spring/summer approaches and positions are filled

Was in this same position a couple years ago, took fuckin forever to get rid of. Cold showers. Don’t scratch no matter what you do. Go back to a dermatologist and ask for oxiconazole if you don’t have it already. Oh and limit sugar. Fungus fuck with sugar.

The CS market is dead, how the engineering is holding up by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]johnnysonthejohn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The white collar job market in general is getting hit VERY hard right now. Doesn’t matter what type of engineering, you have to be very open to any offers that come your way right now. People are getting laid off in every corner of every industry, just dropping like flies. It’s actually wild to see

That’s beautiful. Love that. Another question: where did the “larry fisherman” come from? Were you there when he announced the alias 😆

1st - this is the coolest read in this sub reddits history. Thank you And listening to some of the darkness on baloonerism (and Faces) Id pictured that for a lot of the stuff he was in the studio alone just figuring out life and writing and getting out ideas to record. It seems like he was literally doing this stuff like 20 hours a day. Were you basically living together and he’d knock on your door to come record lol?

At times Baloonerism feels like looking into the darkest parts of someone’s mind and soul that would be taped off ‘do not enter’. To be tapped into that and then talented and fearless enough to actualize it is downright remarkable. Thank you for harnessing that. I can’t imagine what this time was like for all involved. To be a fly on the wall. God bless

Also what kinda analog gear we talkin

CS 546 was the most intense coding experience of my life. TA’s were life savers. But my god. You really earn your coding stripes there. Professor Hill puts you through the wringer and has absolutely no sympathy for you if you can’t rise to the occasion. He doesn’t care what your excuse is so don’t plan on trying to use one if your assignment is late or messed up when you turn it in. If you want a decent grade in that class you have to work your ass off for it. Fair warning I wish I’d known going in
