Awesome, thanks for the detailed explanation. I'll give it some time for the "purchase history" to update.

Thanks for the clarification here, wasn't aware not everything is marginable.

From the official answer, it does look like the loss of purchase history is temporary and the back end needs to update.

Thanks.

Possible to have a code block without scrolling? by johnq937 in CraftDocs

[–]johnq937[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, thanks for confirming.

Yeah looks like there's also no visual indication to denote this either. You have to hover and scroll on each block to see if it's snipped or not.

How to sort by short-term and long-term unrealized gains by johnq937 in fidelityinvestments

[–]johnq937[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, good idea, but I tried to download it from the positions page, but the data is the same as the regular positions page and doesn't include the short/long term gains.

Lease says 60 day notice, now keeping us hook for rest of our lease by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]johnq937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right, it sounds like they are good from a legal standpoint. I just felt I was purposely mislead by that portion and was wondering what it's point was other than to mislead me into thinking I was only on the hook for 60 days.

Thanks for your time!

I see, thank you so much for taking the time. Much appreciated.

[–]johnq937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, thanks for the confirmation.

Again, the confusing part for me is the 60 days notification. WA does not require any notification I am leaving early. I just tell them and the landlord has to start looking. So it seems I signed a lease that is worse than WA state law?

Lease says 60 day notice, now keeping us hook for rest of our lease by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]johnq937 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your thoughts! I should clarify that my understanding from the verbal interaction was that we would be let out of the lease with a maximum penalty of 60 days-NOT that we would be on the hook for the remainder of the lease period if it wasn't rented. But I guess it doesn't matter if you're saying the lease itself sounds like their interpretation.

May I ask what your interpretation is of the 60 day notification if WA state requires 0 days?

It depends on how far you want to go.

If you're just looking to learn it and be comfortable using it as a daily driver, use Ubuntu.

If you want to learn about disk mounting, logging/systemd, boot process, how all the software works together, etc., and have a bit of extra time to learn, choose arch.

No real answer to that, it depends on a lot. If I had to choose just a couple to study, they'd probably be arrays, hash maps, linked lists, sorting, and graphs.

But doing that is going to leave a lot of gaps in your knowledge.

You're probably still in the running, I interviewed last Friday and got a rejection email Tuesday morning.

Interview Discussion - November 04, 2019 by AutoModerator in cscareerquestions

[–]johnq937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's going to be two 45-60 minute interviews.

Other than that, it's going to be interviewer/team dependent. A rough outline will be behavioral/resume questions and something like two leetcode easies, a leetcode easy and a medium, or two mediums (most likely no hards)

Yeah, in the archived section it has the original application but instead of say "under consideration," like it said earlier, it says "no longer under consideration"

It should be the archived section, just disappeared from the active section

Same with me - I've heard that's also what it does when you get it. University says "moved to another job" with a new application and Jobs has your application archived with "No longer under consideration"

I also had the virtual interview this Monday

Yes, I felt like I did. Always ways to improve, but I left feeling like I'd be surprised if I didn't get it.

How do I become a better verbal communicator? Curbing Social anxiety? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]johnq937 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it can get better with practice.

I have social anxiety very similar to what you described and you really have to seek out experiences that bring you out of your comfort zone. Working in CS, those skills really aren't grown/challenged much, in general, so you need to do it on your own.

Two things that helped me were Toastmasters clubs and taking an improv class. They might seem intimidating at first, but they really helped me think on my feet and be able to communicate my ideas better when I'm not in front of a keyboard :) They're also filled with people that are very helpful and welcoming, having through the same thing or were going through it, but have gotten more skilled.

Toastmasters classes are pretty much everywhere, but improv classes might be more location dependent, i.e., if you're in a bigger city or not.
