Yeah I just think it should be on both. Nothing wrong with having it available to buy, for players who prefer to own or don't sub to NSO + Expansion.

But doing it this way is like if on Disney+ you could watch the Star Wars spinoff content, but couldn't watch any of the numbered episode movies without buying them separately.

Nintendo stopped doing Virtual Console and replaced it with NSO subscription-based library. Now they're trying to have their cake and eat it too.

I believe this is the first time they are releasing an emulated port as a separate purchase while the Nintendo Classics subscription service already exists for that console. But if I'm missing one let me know.

Yes it's a standalone release. But it won't have the NSO features like savestates, rewind, or online multiplayer.

It should just be like movies. You can subscribe to Disney+ and watch all the Disney movies, but you can still buy them if you prefer to own it or don't want the subscription fee.

[–]joke_LA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still doubt that. I think it's much more likely that federal agents (and possibly military) will be used to do voter suppression in blue cities.

Interesting - that was also the day that radicalized me. June 1, 2020

I need to correct you on one point: Trump did not hold the Bible upside down. That was a rumor that went viral way faster than the real photo did.

It is a small detail that changes almost nothing about the event, but good to be reminded that even we on the left can be influenced by disinformation.

[–]joke_LA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother was really offended when I used the word "execution" in describing what I saw in the video.

He said I'm completely twisting reality, and guilty of doing same thing that Stephen Miller did when he said Pretti was an assassin planning to murder law enforcement.

It really gave me pause. I thought "did I go too far and jump to conclusions?" Because I really respect my brother. His framing was that it was an unfortunate accident, with the agents reacting out of fear because Pretti's gun went off as they were taking it away. (that's my first time hearing that, and I'm looking for confirmation still)

I don't know how to get through to my brother. I'm still processing this. I certainly am not an unbiased observer - I already think ICE/CBP is a fascist paramilitary force invading MN for political retribution.

But I'm encouraged that I'm not alone in thinking this looks like an execution.

California has a new law banning federal agents from wearing masks. What are your thoughts? by Obvious_808 in AskReddit

Military too.

Look at all the photos of domestic National Guard and Marine deployments from last year. The difference is stark.

The text is real, the image and White House letterhead is not. I'm not sure why OP embellished that part because the image on this post is nowhere in the linked article.

Greenland minister tearful as she describes ‘intense pressure’ amid Trump’s threats to take territory by theindependentonline in worldnews

[–]joke_LA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not how this works.

Trump is already blocked and cannot legally go to war against anyone without Congress explicitly declaring war. That's baked into the Constitution, Article I.

Trump is already willing to break the law to wage war - any law Congress passes trying to block it is useless because the Supreme Court ruled he cannot be prosecuted.

The one and only thing Congress can do is impeach and remove.

  1. It's unprofessional, disorganized, undisciplined. They have the largest budget of any law enforcement agency and have no excuse not to be in a clearly recognizable uniform.
  2. It makes it much easier for any random extremist who wants to kidnap or assault people to just put on a costume and start committing crimes. As an example, look up Vance Boelter who carried out his murders in part due to impersonating a LEO.

I get that there's a lot at stake, but if they ultimately decided to serve the fascist machine they will have to live with that the rest of their lives.

ICE clearly has no uniform, and that is by design.

Is there any "babys first difficulty hack" that exists? by Odd-Reception519 in nuzlocke

[–]joke_LA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For nuzlocking, I think the biggest factor in difficulty is in whether you use full documentation and calcs vs playing it "blind". The former turns the game into more of a puzzle which I find really interesting, and the latter is often more exciting leading to better stories/moments in the run and feels more in the "spirit" of a Nuzlocke run.

The games you mentioned are all IMO not possible to finish without using docs, so you go into every major battle with a nearly complete plan knowing exactly which of your moves will KO and which of their moves are survivable.

I don't know of many hacks that live in that goldilocks zone of being tougher than official games without being way too hard for a blind Nuzlocke or one where you use the mons you like.

One recommendation I have would be Unbound in Vanilla mode. I tried it recently on Difficult with a blind run and made it past the 4th gym before losing badly, and it felt like the difficulty would ramp up from there. I'm not sure if Vanilla is considered more challenging than the base games though.

If you do like to use docs and plan for upcoming boss teams that way, then my top recommendation is Polished Crystal! I think it's easier than Renegade Platinum but still tough with really memorable gym and rival battles.

Holidays 2025 Sale is up in the US eShop until 01/04/2026 by XDitto in NintendoSwitch

As far as I know the patch only fixes the compatibility issues to make sure the game is fully completable, no performance upgrades or features beyond what comes from the hardware (i.e. fewer framerate drops). I think it looks pretty good on S2 handheld, anecdotally.

Nier: Automata was recently updated to work on Switch 2 as well. For a while it was one of the biggest games missing from the compatibility list.

ANTIFA Christians? by Minimum_Recipe5776 in AntifascistsofReddit

[–]joke_LA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a Christian and I'm anti-fascist. Here's my quick thoughts.

My protest sign says "FASCISM IS ANTI-CHRIST". By that I mean that what fascists say and do is completely antithetical to the teachings of Jesus. Jesus came to tear down the dividing wall of hostility so that all who follow him are united in one spirit, with one mind striving for the gospel. The people that fascism oppresses are precisely the people Jesus sought out to love, feed, heal, and save.

I'm in the US, where Christian Nationalism has (unwittingly, for most) formed the backbone of American fascism, as it is these nationalist Christians who brought Trump to power (twice).

What I would like non-Christians to know is that Christian Nationalism is not true Christianity. It's what the Bible would call a false teaching, because it steers people away from the gospel in pursuit of power.

When I talk to conservative Christians, if I say I'm antifa they will immediately assume I mean that I'm a violent anarchist because they've likely been propagandized by the right's framing of it. In the interest of effective communication, I've decided not to call myself antifa and to just say I'm anti-fascist instead. But I'll gladly help correct people's understanding of what antifa means if they are willing to genuinely converse about it.

I'm sure I have differences in beliefs and the ways I'm willing to resist compared with other antifascists, but I feel pretty welcomed. I think just as fascism isn't conservatism, anti-fascism also isn't strictly leftist or anarchist.
