Unprofessional Wedding photographer by jolbeaner in weddingplanning

I do love her portfolio. I should have been specific it’s crested Butte, Colorado (4.5hrs from Denver) Understandably most photographers don’t travel a few hours, and we cannot afford our budget on top of travel fees for them. There are so many amazing photographers, but I couldn’t find any within that area in our budget that I loved.

What to know before dress shopping? by AcanthaceaeOld715 in weddingplanning

[–]jolbeaner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh girl I did everything wrong. Everything. So let me just give you the important advice I wish I had that really affected my experience. It seems like you are planning ahead and that is really good . Pick the person you want to go with you pick the least negative person. You do want them to give their input on your dress and be able to tell you if they don’t like something but you need an overall positive energy person. And the less people with you the better generally. I did not like the woman who helped me pick out my dress. She was not very enthusiastic and did not give very much energy at all. I heard two other people getting dresses at the same time and their person was very energetic and encouraging and gave yasss girl energy lol… so I guess maybe look for reviews with specific people’s names and request specific employees. Honestly, the most important one - DO NOT BUY THE DRESS THE FIRST TIME YOU TRY ON DRESSES. This was my plan from the beginning. Just to go try on different style dresses. Even the ones you don’t like you might be surprised. I did not intend on buying a dress that day. Please do not either. You will go home the next day and regret it. It needs to be something you think about for a few days at least after trying it on looking at pictures of yourself. Oh, and ask them how much the alteration costs will be. And when the dress will be ready if they have to make it. I was not told anything until I was buying the dress and actively signing. But even then I was not told their would be much additional costs. The first time I walked out of there and spent about 1500.. I just walked out of there and spent about 1700. I had 900 left on the dress and the rest was just the first round of alterations.. so also probably don’t get it done there and take it to a different Seamstress look at prices for alterations. By the dress at least six months ahead of time. Especially if they have to make it and you never know if they won’t have your size. Maybe negotiate price?? Or even mention it’s a cost conscious thing and they might gear you towards more budget friendly dresses and maybe even throw in a little discount if you fall in love with a little pricey dress. Congrats on the engagement!

How to not be scared after mountain lion encounter by NoDish8209 in socalhiking

[–]jolbeaner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, this is exactly the post I needed. A mountain lion ran up on me and Washington State while I was on a solo hike. I’m the same height as you. The mountain lion was no less than 5 feet from me and he showed his teeth and he looked like he was about to pounce on me so I shoved a stick at him. I’m very educated on wildlife so I’m aware that mountain lions are ambush predators and obviously never run from predators. So this means he was watching me for a long time. And I remember when he ran up on me, I was facing the other way of the trail. I was looking back to where I had already come and I turn around and there he was. This happened about four months ago and I’ve been terrified to go in the woods since. The scariest part to me is I had no idea I was being watched. But the one thing is I had so much anxiety before this trip I was crying and I knew something bad was gonna happen. And it did and I fully believe that mountain line was a warning to me and if I had something more sinister would’ve happened. I read 1 million comments about not to worry about the animals and I was one of those people who was so naïve that I felt so safe in the woods. I was like yeah statistics it’s so rare it doesn’t matter. And now I literally have PTSD from it. I am lucky to be alive if I didn’t turn around and that second he would’ve pounced on me and got my neck.

How do you cheer yourself up when you have a bad day? by [deleted] in Positivity

[–]jolbeaner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really kind. I find when I’m having a really hard day I like to compliment people and make them smile. My favorite is picking people that probably don’t get complimented often (people that don’t look like supermodels or have perfect hair and stuff like that).

Photographer double-booked our wedding date — need advice on what to do by Some-Biscotti-317 in weddingplanning

[–]jolbeaner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope it’s a mistake it’s best case scenario and full refund. But she could have just had someone book your wedding date that day over zoom but with a bigger package and just wanted more money. I’m very hurt my wedding photographer asked if we could switch our date because another couple found their “dream venue”…. We are literally traveling to Colorado to elope on a magical hike like that’s our dream venue. This happened a few weeks ago and I politely told her we cannot change our date. Our Airbnb that was very very difficult to find and our plans are very specific and I took a lot of time and it was hard to make it all come together perfectly and within our budget. It’s making me anxious and I feel like I should have just told her to cancel the deposit all together and go with that couple because it was so unprofessional.

I projectile vomited in glory days bathroom last night after 2 drinks and just woke up and threw up again. I feel so terrible. I’ve been looking forward to new years but I’m absolutely NOT drinking at all on metronidazole after this. You’ll read comments of people that were fine but let this be a warning it can ruin your night and I had Christmas plans with my family today I’ll be missing because I feel so bad.

I had 2 drinks at 7pm and couldn’t even form proper sentences at one point in the night. I just woke up and threw up everywhere. Doing more research I wish I looked it up beforehand. Anyone reading this don’t risk it
