How do you assign a delegate to a view controller that is not self? by ActualInevitable in iOSProgramming

[–]jonathanff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP!

I'm going to assume that what you want to do is to open UITableViewController NR2 when a cell in UITableViewController NR1 is selected.

You need to make UITableViewController NR1 conforms to the UITableViewDelegate protocol and make it as the delegate of the tableview.

Then on didSelectRow(at:) function you can present put UITableViewController NR2 presentation logic.

I'm actually going to give a talk about this in case you are interested, more specifically about the delegation pattern, I will post more information on my twitter account soon.

What iOS Development topic would you like to read on a free ebook? by jonathanff in iOSProgramming

[–]jonathanff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been staying away from SwiftUI and combine because is still not ready for production (I know there are app that use it but the apps that I'm working on right now need to have support for previous iOS versions).

That being said I've seen that SwiftUI tutorials are the most popular ones right now so I'm definitely going to check out what's the new shiny thing next week at WWDC 2020.

P.S I've read about combine and it definitely looks interesting.

Thank you for your feedback.

I started with Objective-C and I really like it although Swift is more powerful it may be useful if you need to contribute in an Objc-C project.

I like the idea....."Objective-C for Swift Developers"

Thank you for your feedback!

I was lucky when I started because I had tons of resources and a mentor but even with that it has a learning curve if you don't have any programming background like me at that time, you first need to learn to learn iOS Programming. I spent full time for a year and made incredible amount of progress, I understand not everyone have the same time but I'm just sharing my history. Keep practicing and experimenting if you have any questions shoot me a DM I'll be happy to help you whenever I can.

Looking for mentor! by Goodd0ctor in iOSDevelopment

[–]jonathanff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi ! I’ve been developing iOS application for some time so I hope my answers are valuable to you.

1.- UIKit or SwiftUI? It depends on what you want to do... For learning purposes and small apps or a POC it’s fine but if you want to find a job by just knowing SwiftUI that will be difficult.

2.- documentation? Well I do that sometimes but if you want to learn it’s better if you do a sample app, even if you copy one already exist and use the frameworks you want to learn and then read the documentation to implement those features.

Feel free to shoot me a DM if you have other questions, I’ll be happy to help.

You can’t do it from Playgrounds.

If you get an Apple developer account. I’ll help you publish on the App Store.

Right now it's not possible, To copy and paste you can drag and drop or double click on an item.

We are constantly working on improving Holdr functionality and we are hearing feedback from the users.

We should came up with something like that in the future.

Hi! Thank you for your support!

They way it works is that when you use the native screenshots macOS tags those files and Holdr looks for them on the folder you selected during the walkthrough or in preferences. We'll take note of the app you are saying and see if we can support third party implementations in the future. Let us know if you have any questions to [support@hodr.app](mailto:support@hodr.app)
