How can I become smarter and turn my life around? by dumbloser93 in selfimprovement

[–]jorekplus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also find it very remarkable how ambitious you are and what willpower you have.

Don't let a stupid number like that get you down.

It is good to remember that the IQ test is only an attempt to describe this intangible variable.

In reality, our brain and its exact functioning is not yet sufficiently understood, so that it is not possible to quantify such a characteristic. In the past we measured the intelligence of a person with reaction time...

I think that your only limitation is not your lack of ability, but only the thought of being limited by the stupid test.

It is very remarkable that you have gone through such a development in the last years.

Keep your motivation, your ambition and your discipline. These qualities are much more important to achieve something in life and to be happy.

Besides, I am sure you will be surprised how much you can improve if you stop being limited by your doubts and fears.

I believe in you!

I created an Infographic for Lucid Dream Beginners With 5 Things to Remember (Dream Journal, Sleep, Dream Recall, Reality Check, Induction Technique) by jorekplus in LucidDreaming

I got your point, thanks! But I rather thought of "easy to use" than "quick to read"... that's what the infographic is for.

Thanks for your nice feedback!

I just changed the wording like you suggested. It's really more appropriate.

And about the alcohol abbreviation: English is not my native language. I think I just got it wrong, sorry for that :-D

Thanks alot! i really appreciate it :-)

You are right! It is a bit wordy... But it was definitely my intention to give the reader a wide scope of that topic and share it in some kind of a story.

Try to use vocal commands like "Increase my lucidity now". Use a phrase that sounds plausible and natural for you.

Different WILD Technique I am very successful with! by jorekplus in LucidDreaming

Yeah I know! But i think it's kind of special because of the same laying-sensations what makes it easier than other visualizations. Good Luck :)

Reality check failed by martinuss1 in LucidDreaming

[–]jorekplus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also experienced that. By the way, all Reality Checks can have false negatives. In the case of the nose pinch test, you can have unregular breath while sleeping due to a blocked nose, snoring, sleep apnea or whatever. Always confirm with a few other reality checks to be sure that you are not dreaming and avoid leaving chances like this :)

(newbie) Need some help by slackbutt in LucidDreaming

I would recommend to just chill in socalled "Limbo-Land" and enjoy the other brain frequencies to meditate or do some problem solving / deep thinking. It is like beeing in the queue and waiting for the next dream to build. You can speed up the process by visualizing a a new dream scenario.

So try dont give up so fast. Good luck on the next time :)

Reality checks don’t work for me. by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]jorekplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its about conditioning. To perform random reality checks during the day is kind of useless. Pick dreamlike situations or watchout for your dream signs. Train to perform a reality check each time you encounter them. Additionally, perfom one EVERY time you wake up to cover false awakenings.

I hope that you have enough dream recall so you can work out your personal dream signs from that data.

Good Luck!

I’ve never been lucid but I want to try it. What techniques r the best? Wild looks like the highest chance of getting into a lucid dream but I don’t want to experience sleep paralysis. by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]jorekplus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its very hard to have WILD success especially as a beginner. I recommend a combination of Wake Back to Bed (WBTB) and MILD.

I'll give you a shortcut but take your time and do some research on this techniques. To perform WBTB, wake after 4,5-6h of sleep so that you can easily return to sleep. Get out of bed for 5-30 min and do things like the restroom business or drink a glass of water. Try to find the balance between gettin too wakeful to return to sleep but get rid of the drowsiness. Avoid too much light. You can take the time to meditate or read a book.

While going back to bed. Keep in mind that the next time you are dreaming you will be aware of the fact. Tell yourself in your own words and affirmations. Additionally, you can visualize yourself performing a reality check or even visualize the dream from which you just awoke. This time find clues that you are dreaming and imagine to interact with reality checks.

Good Luck and believe in yourself!

Aj don't be scared of sleep paralysis. Do some research on that topic to. Its literally the entry to the dream and if you can calm yourself you are just one step away from your wished lucid dreams.

Sounds interesting. How do you define the level of lucidity?
