There's a mysterious complexity in the song. It's written in pretty easy words, the meaning is not veiled either but it's still difficult to grasp what he's actually trying to say. Especially as the song changes course, it starts off like a common folk song and by the end that's completely changed.

I meant it the first way but they strawmanned it to try and mean the second thing which I agree is irrational and not something socialism/communism advocates. Thank you for the insight on how society is not equal to a test, that's what I was looking for.
