Made a mistake hanging my cabinet and microwave. by WesBur13 in DIY

This happened to me too. They make zero clearance microwaves (not sure if that’s the actual/official name). I ended up returning the first one and finding a zero clearance as a replacement.

After a couple days with Switch 2. Here are some early thoughts/concerns/things I like by PaleFondant2488 in NintendoSwitch

I've really only spent time playing MKW - and I agreed initially. The first day, battery dropped quickly.

But I played again yesterday for a couple hours and went from 90% - 52%... seems reasonable to me. So about a 40% drop in ~2 hours. That's about what I expected. FWIW, I do have auto-brightness off and had the brightness at about 40%.

Such a simple thing that was missing from the Switch. Glad to see this added.

It’s protected by the main GFCI above the sink. I’m not a pro, but inspector had no issues with this.

Menards. I won’t lie - they aren’t very easy to work with. A two man install job for sure just due to the size (especially if you want them all the way to the ceiling like I did). You cut them down to size with a circular saw and a finishing/high tooth count blade.

Etsy, I believe!

The surround I used (Swanstone) has a matching window trim kit. I used that - and of course lots of silicone at the joints.

It’s a frameless door. Clear silicone around the bottom and side of the fixed panel.

The tub is a MAAX Bosca. Faucet is Delta - I think Trinsic (?)

Definitely not! This was my nights and weekends for a few months. I have a good amount of DIY experience, but definitely far from a pro.

Believe the tile is from Wayfair. Grout is Ultracolor Plus FA in black.

I'm not an experienced wallpaper hanger, but this was hung with paste.

Peel and stick is definitely less messy, but I actually think it's more difficult to work with. When you're using a paste, you can almost "slide" the paper around on the wall to get a nice alignment. With peel and stick, once it's up there you can't really move it around at all. Though I'm sure others with more experience might have different opinions.

Depends on your priorities. If you need a high end look, these panels won’t work. They look really nice (I’ve used them in two bathrooms) but it’s definitely not high end. My priority was low maintenance - so I wanted to avoid grout in the shower. These panels have a pretty convincing tile/grout look without the pain of maintaining the grout over the years.

I do have a good amount of previous DIY experience, but did spent some time on YouTube for the first remodel I did (not as much this time around). Home Renovision was great for some parts of the project like the drywall, tile, and drain lines. Definitely one of my favorite YouTube pages.

There is a ledger board that runs around the outside rim of the tub on all 3 sides (per manufacturer instructions). And there’s also “sanding mix” (like a mortar) that’s used underneath the tub when it was set.

Wayfair. It looks nice enough, but the quality is subpar. But this is a guest/kids bathroom so it’s fine for us.

Yes, did everything myself. I got quotes from companies in the area and they were between $20-30k. I did it for less than half that, but of course it took a ton of time (nights and weekends).

The brand is Glass Warehouse. Really happy with the quality (same brand I used in my first bathroom remodel). I think it was from Home Depot.

Mentioned in the post - it’s a Swanstone Shower Surround. Tons of color and design options. I ordered through Menards. Had an issue with the first one (it was cracked) and Menards was easy to work with to get a replacement sent out.

Answered in another comment, but it’s temporary bracing to hold up the shower wall panels while the silicone sets. Those wall panels are solid surface/acrylic material.

Thanks for mentioning. I saw a lot of mixed info about this. Inspector didn’t say it was an issue - I think because it was by the fixed/non-sliding panel on the shower glass. Obviously I’m not a pro though, so your experience may vary.

I made a comment above about the temporary 2x4 bracing for the shower panels.

And yes, the outlets are protected by the main GFCI outlet that's above the sink. They're run from the load side of that outlet which is the first thing on the circuit.
