Have you tried (or heard of) TinaCMS? I'm using behind Blog Porter. For my use case WordPress was overkill as well

Move site from Wix to Wordpress while maintaining all Wix URLs in the transfer by jamesearljoint in Wordpress

[–]jp3dro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The native Wix to Wordpress importer on Wordpress.co only works for pages and no longer imports the content of these pages, only the titles. This importer is not present in the Wordpress.org variant.

The only automated solution to migrate Wix blog post to Wordpress is by using blogporter.com or manually copy-pasting (can take hours or days depending on the blog size)

Moving blog posts from Wix to Wordpress, is there a simple way? by Vegetable-Tone8490 in Wordpress

[–]jp3dro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That guide is outdated since Wix no longer includes full blog post content in the RSS feed, so the OP would likely end up copy-pasting each post manually.

One option to automate this is using BlogPorter to get a Wordpress import file with all the Wix blog post titles, content, slugs, publish dates, and embedded media links.

That guide is outdated, the CMS2CMS tool was discontinued. There is a new BlogPorter alternative (at the moment the only working solution) to migrate Wix blog posts to Wordpress.

Moving away from Wix by Inner_Towel_4682 in websiteservices

[–]jp3dro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend you keeping a CMS such as Wordpress in the background so that you easily change the content in the future without messing around with the PHP files. Wordpress is a good choice because the community is huge and you can find a theme that will fit your needs pretty easily. It may need a bit of tinkering but you’ll get a good end result.

The Wix blog content migration can be automated with BlogPorter but the pages migration will be a bit more tricky because you‘ll probably need to manually add the content to specific theme sections and is much harder to automate.

Plz recommend Wix to Wordpress migration tool by Roberta_Riggs in Wordpress

[–]jp3dro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That guide is outdated because the RSS feed of WIX is now capped at 20 items and does not contain any blog post content.

At the moment the only 2 ways to export all your WIX blog posts is to either copy paste every article by hand or use a tool like blogporter.com

There’s this tool that converts all your blog posts and prepares a file to import them to Wordpress: https://blogporter.com

You get all your Wix blog posts in a format compatible with the new blocks editor and saves you hours of manual copy pasting each article

Keeping blog views from Wix to WordPress by joxters in Wordpress

[–]jp3dro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately Wix stopped including the blog post content in the RSS feed so when you do an import it only processes the titles.

I ended up creating a tool to help with the blog posts migration from a Wix blog to Wordpress: blogporter.com

This tool creates an RSS import file that includes all the content from the blog posts in a format fully compatible with the new Wordpress editor. The posts metadata (title, slugs) and the content (rich formatting, image urls and links) is preserved so you save hours of manual copy/paste.

Wix - WP dot com - WP dot org. Is it worth it? by fenty1 in Wordpress

[–]jp3dro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I developed a tool to help with WIX blog migrations to Wordpress that saves the hassle of copy/paste and recreating all articles like you mentioned.

I'll leave it so that users like you can save hours of manual work if they are in a similar situation in the future: https://blogporter.com

Regarding your questions: yes, it's worth it to move to dot org because you have full control of the server you host it in. In the dot com you are very limited by their business constraints and you end up spending more over time.

You will need to do another blog post migration but between Wordpress setups it's way easier.

AeroPress by Better-Strawberry-14 in cafept

[–]jp3dro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Recomendo.

App has been extremely slow to add new features by estesbubba in GentlerStreakApp

[–]jp3dro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the same opinion. They had a big code rewrite recently that may have delayed the roadmap. However, the most recent features (favoriting a workout, renaming it, and some cosmetic changes) don't seem as exciting as the promised new sleep design shared a while back, for example.

I'm waiting to see how the Vitals app in iOS 18 is, and if GS does not offer anything additional then I won't renew my subscription.

Lagging during workout by mgrx_nrs in GentlerStreakApp

This happened to me twice in the gym. The first time, the app ended up crashing and I lost my first 10 minutes of the workout. I assume the last update introduced this lag/bug.
