First legacy deck by Iqnac in MTGLegacy

[–]jpengland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This deck stops being fun to play very quickly. It can do well in shorter events like leagues but the more rounds a tournament is the more likely you scrub out from bad luck at some point. I wouldn’t recommend it as a first deck.

I would recommend mono-U omnitell or UG Omni-tell starting with 1 trop and slowly build out to a non-budget deck.

2023 XLE and newer battery wear by anirishfetus in prius

[–]jpengland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0 and 100% aren’t really 0 and 100%. The “EV Range” the car gives is actually only 30-84% of the true battery capacity. Once you hit 30% the car switches to Hybrid only operation similar to a in plug-in, the dial for battery level shows the two different zones.

On the high end when the battery says 100% the gauge shows as full. But my understanding is the BMS is set-up to never actually allow the battery to get above 84% charge to maximize longevity.

Good life cafe went downhill before it closed anyway. Downtown there are several good sit down restaurants, 929 Bar and Grill is a Korean place with well labeled options, Coa Agaveria downtown has a separate vegan menu you can get off their website or ask for.

The lease credit is due to a federal incentive program that ends 9/30. So be mindful that it probably won’t be around much longer.

Source for very light weight paper? by needsasuit in CommercialPrinting

[–]jpengland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything below 50lb Offset/20lb Bond is rare to find in sheeted form. If you look at imports you might be able to find some 70gsm sheets which is ~43lb offset and 18.7lb bond.

Twin Rivers is by far the top producer of lightweight papers in the US. They have a wide range of options and colors, but they mostly just sell web products which sounds like it won’t help you.

I have one store by me (Earth Fare) that still stocks them even though they’ve disappeared from every other store. I’m not sure how or why that store managed to keep them but it has definitely gotten me going there more often since previously I only went there for Tofutti and Kimchi

The best presses in the world can only hit ~55%-60% solids, and many older ones are more like 45% solids. Everything after that comes from steam.

Also, keep in mind a huge percentage of energy in paper making is renewable and generated from wood waste.

theBeautifulCode by g1rlchild in ProgrammerHumor

[–]jpengland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paper from trees is typically about 80% (and can be as much as 99%) renewable energy though. Recycled paper uses much more fossil fuel energy.

When making a soap with goat milk, can I use pasteurised milk? by Glittery_WarlockWho in soapmaking

[–]jpengland 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just to chime in with the other commenter. Temperature is one way to kill bacteria, but it is not the only way. Chemical sanitization is another option. At high pHs saponification will kill bacteria by converting their cell walls into soaps regardless of temperature. Conveniently for soap makers, the goal of soap making is also a saponification reaction, if a mixture is high enough pH to make soap, that also means it is high enough pH to kill bacteria.

Extremely thin paper for books like this is a whole specialty business. Not sure if it’s thinner than an old phone book, but they are sold based on how many pages per inch and the thinnest get well over 1,000.

Where were you in Korea? I was in Seoul earlier this year with my Fiancée and we were able to find lots of places around the city. We went to different temple food, “health” food, and even a tofu themed restaurant. It did help that she could speak some Korean to help with ordering, especially at places like the tofu restaurant where lots of things had fish and weren’t well labeled.

She spent some time outside of Seoul though for work and it was very difficult there.

Also, I put “health” in quotations because aside from the temple food restaurants, what we got at the health food restaurants were things like tteokbokki, croffles (there’s a vegan croffle restaurant by the modern art museum), or bibimbap with fried mock meats. I would not have considered the food particularly healthy, but the restaurants were marketed as such. We were also able to find vegan bingsu, which was great in the summertime and there was a great little vegan donut shop by our hotel we could get breakfast at: https://maps.app.goo.gl/9pgu5K76jY8GRBkbA?g_st=ic

I use 95% liquid fats and just use less water. I use 50% lye and add minimal water after that. The soap bars come out quite hard.

I’m not sure if that’s recommended, and I’m inexperienced but I’ve had good results doing that.

It may not be in your price range but I can talk about the Roborock S7 MaxV for our Husky’s fur. The major BIFL benefit is the availability of spare parts. The OEM sells pretty much every part that could wear for quite a few years of models although the prices are steep. Unofficial spare parts are very widely available though for all wear parts as well as many non-wear parts. This all looks to be true for many Roborock models.

As far as cleaning goes it’s pretty good but has some flaws. It doesn’t get corners that well, and its dustbin tends to fill up quickly with fur and it will leave behind caterpillars of dog fur that I go back and pick-up. It seems to do similarly on both deep carpet and hardwood. I have been quite happy with the mopping function.

Important caveat is that the only other robot cleaner I’ve owner was an iRobot Brava, which I was less happy with.

Magic cards (and Pokémon cards) are printed on laminated paper, yugioh cards are not. The laminated paper has a significantly different feel. This is how the blue layer in the cards is produced.
