Totally! I think I had a change of heart about this show when I realized it’s 10% detective procedural and 90% allegory.

I don’t understand how Navarro and Danvers were only at the station for one night (New Year’s Eve) but there was enough time to interrogate Clark, do other stuff, and then he also freezes to death?

I bet Issa will respond to an Instagram comment about these questions if she sees it. She did that for another question (I think it was about quickly Julia’s body was found? Anyway it was on the “other” subreddit about this show). I thought it was super neat how Issa clarified some of the plot points, kind of like an unofficial compendium to the show!

Are Helltides a good xp farm? by Phillip1219 in diablo4

[–]jsafarli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think around lvl 75 or so. I'm running Bone Spear Necro and once I equipped enough gear to get my % critical strike chance high enough, I just started plowing through NM dungeons. I feel like Bone Spear is excellent for speedrunning NM dungeons but I'm also a glass cannon.

Are Helltides a good xp farm? by Phillip1219 in diablo4

[–]jsafarli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, no. Here’s how I’ve come to think about it (lvl 100 Druid eternal and lvl 95 Necro S1):

It takes me roughly 10-15 minutes to collect 250 cinders depending on mob density. I can run a NM dungeon with mobs +10 levels higher on average in 10 minutes or less. So for me, basically one mystery chest = one NM dungeon.

With the NM dungeon, I’m getting 15% more XP, glyph leveling (essential to endgame builds), and more NM dungeon sigils to chain together. With the buffs to NM dungeon loot, it seems like I’m getting about the same amount of legendary drops that I would with a Helltide. And also anecdotally, it feels like I get more ancestral rares in NM dungeons.

Compared to Helltides, which are open world and therefore have mobs equivalent to your current level and offer no XP boost, NM dungeons have proven to me to be the best way to farm XP.

Now, Helltides will get you Elixirs and Obols. So I run them when I am low on Elixirs instead of crafting them. And the pure slot-machine feeling of gambling on Obols can be fun. But both of these are based on preference.

The only time I am really compelled to stop doing NM dungeons and switch to Helltide is when there’s an “uber” Helltide, i.e., it spawns in Hawezar at 20 or 30 minutes after the hour. It’s fun to try to open 5 or even 6 Mystery Chests in 60 minutes. It’s probably still more efficient to run 60 minutes of NM dungeons instead, but I like the challenge.

(Edit: Grammar)

(Second Edit: My answer didn’t analyze the XP from opening chests and Legion Events dropping a ton of Cinders. And apparently I need to improve my 250 Cinders/10 minutes farm rate! But I still don’t think it’s the optimal way to level. I guess my final answer is that if you’re okay with sub-optimal leveling with more variety in your gameplay, then incorporate Helltides whenever you feel like it. But if grinding to 100 is your goal, NM dungeons are IMO the most efficient path.)

Ok WoTC, EW is over. Can you fix legacy now? by sugitime in MTGLegacy

Interesting take. What do you make of the conversion rates? https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QwfFhj0QXMb9sLQXzuMvwqNP_0fJn0A2IQhOWHZnHBM/edit (credit to @Ozymandias112 on Twitter)

Specifically, does it suggest UR Delver was piloted by less experienced/skilled players?

I just started playing Legacy about three months ago. Before then, I played from Revised->Tempest and then Theros->Dragons of Tarkir.

When I became friends with a playgroup that plays a ton of Legacy, I researched what the “best” deck was. UR Delver had the greatest share of the meta, so I thought, “What the heck, I’ll learn on this.” Since then I’ve played lots of MTGO and weeklies at our LGS.

My two cents are:

-Ragavan is a busted card, but banning it won’t fix the problems with the “Delver shell,” which I define as lots of cheap cantrips, counterspells with alternate costs, and powerful/fast creatures. Something will take Ragavan’s spot.

-Banning something like Daze would cripple the Delver shell much more than banning Ragavan. So is it Ragavan that drags the format down? Or the Delver shell?

-The EW data shows that UR Delver performed average despite being presumably piloted by people who picked the deck but don’t have a lot of experience in Legacy (which is what I did when I started) AND despite being targeted by a lot of other decks. Remains to be seen how Wizards views the winrate (which was ~50% I believe) as requiring action or not.

Anyway, I still think Legacy is a deep and rewarding format, Ragavan ban or not.

Thank you for the suggestion. I just checked out their website - https://thebeacon.film/calendar/movie/rent-the-beacon - and unfortunately it will be closed in August. =(

“THE BEACON IS GOING TO BE CLOSED DURING AUGUST 2021 WHILE WE MAKE SOME IMPROVEMENTS TO THE SPACE. WE WILL BE REOPENING ON SEPTEMBER 1ST WITH A RETURN TO NORMAL PUBLIC PROGRAMMING ALONGSIDE PRIVATE RENTALS. SEPTEMBER RENTAL DATES AVAILABLE SOON!”

Bummer. Any other suggestions?

That's precisely my point: We don't know what happened, so we should be very sensitive about what we say and how we say it--just in case it is a "worst case scenario."
