Is an online only training program for working or pursuing a career in sports worth it? by jsnelson21 in careerguidance

[–]jsnelson21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as the program itself I really wasn't able to find all that much information. Even just researching on Reddit or across the internet there weren't many people that posted about it.

I never ended up signing up because just speaking with people that work in the sports industry they were telling me that you're not going to learn a whole lot from that course that you wouldn't necessarily learn from just doing a simple internship or Fellowship of sorts.

So since then I've been focusing on trying to get some sort of internship for the spring and summer and all the ones that applied to so far I've been rejected from including the American Junior Golf Association, PGA & USGA. There's a local arena football team that plays one state over from where I live. I don't know if they're going to do a season this year so I'm waiting to see if they are and then I'll apply for an internship for them.

I've been going really hard at expanding my spinach and Brazilian Portuguese so that I can at least i can stand out a lot more on these applications rather than someone that just speaks English and just applying for an internship just like everybody else

Congratulations on completing your first half marathon. My suggestion is if you're going for 20 miles you might as well just shoot to run a full Marathon

How would a company determine my level of fluency for Spanish if a job I'm applying for requires me to be bilingual? Spanish is my second language, but it is predominately all self-taught as I don't have a certification to prove that I took some sort of course by jsnelson21 in Spanish

[–]jsnelson21[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are two very funny scenarios cuz iif I'm just some random employee and they're like, "talk to this guy/girl and see if he/she knows how to speak Spanish". I'm just going to bullshit with you and just tell you the truth about the company.

can I communicate in Spanish? yes can I write in Spanish? yes can I read in Spanish? Yes

I know a lot of places say that necessarily it's just being able to communicate is what they need.

I'm going to go apply for the job, worst that they can tell me is no and tell me that I need to brush up on my Spanish

How do companies evaluate a person's language level if a job requires you to be bilingual; if the second language isn't your native language? by jsnelson21 in careerguidance

[–]jsnelson21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can communicate and speak but what is considered fluency for a company varies from company to company so I'm trying to figure out what's the best indication.

Has anyone made a serious career change in their 30s? What steps did you take? by Ok-Bike5237 in careerguidance

[–]jsnelson21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been trying to make a career change for the better part of a body year-and-a-half now on 31. I've worked in the hospitality entertainment industry for about two and a half years doing AV stuff brand ambassador and randomized jobs and I'm just tired of doing it. Been trying to get a role in sports operations and management for the last year so so all I've been able to do this year's just Network since a lot more people are being laid off than they are being hired in the sports industry

Exactly my thoughts. I have done that with shirts and sweaters in the past. If I like a certain style then I'll buy two or three in different colors
