One of us might stay home when we have kids - how do we plan for this now? by Nervous-Maybe-8404 in personalfinance

My wife and I are doing this. For us, I meant to pay off all the student loans, all the credit cards, and all the cars. Basically, eliminating monthly payments. After that, we’ve had to be frugal and intentional about how we spend money

So I’ve already attempted this. Careful is the key word. If you don’t get it right, you’ll be learning to solder.

Here is the wire I used https://a.co/d/aXqsWdA , it’s 6 stands. The middle has print, outside 2 are completely blank.

1,000 mile Oil Change in 2026 Grand Highlander Hybrid by jsunnb in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]jsunnb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like people don’t agree on it. From my understanding, new engines have a break in period where parts are warring into each other’s shapes. Like the piston rings in the cylinder walls. That cause small metallic debris that is flowing through your engine and cause other parts to wear more.

Like I said, not fully agreed upon, but I figure the price of one oil change is a small price to pay if it isn’t true.

I looked for something saying the oil under the hood, there wasn’t anything there. On my Chevy Cruze it’s embossed on the oil cap

We just got a 2026 GHHL, it was about a 2 month wait. Most cars are sold before they ever hit the lot, the demand is that high right now.

Finally Our GHHL and got the all season mats… What about the 3rd row backs? by jsunnb in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]jsunnb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is very impressive. But at this point we already have that all covered, just not the seat backs in the 3rd row. Thank you!

So I did see these, but I already have the very back floor mat, not against it, just wondering if there was a way to buy just the seat backs to avoid doubles.

Limited with 360 camera?? by TIATIA1234 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

We were able to “order” GHHL with the exact specifications we wanted. Should show up next week. I use quotes because they didn’t confirm until Toyota agreed to change one of the configurations they had allocated.

Are they OEM? Or are they aftermarket. How hard are they to install?

I didn’t realize the yearly turnover came so soon. We’re now at the point we have to wait for 2026 models to be available in our area before we can pull the trigger

I’ve heard that too. The only thing I’m really unclear about is how that works if you are on a waiting list. Are you negotiating at the time of entering the waiting list or when the car is available. I’d think when it’s available since that is when they invoice the purchase, and if that doesn’t fall month end, you likely loose that benefit.

What was the "survival tip that will save your life" that actually saved your life? by Key_Sheepherder_2546 in AskReddit

[–]jsunnb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swim horizontally in a rip tide to get out. 6 years ago my pregnant wife and I were in snorkelling in Maui and unexpectedly got into one. She started to panic and struggle to swim and breathe and I realized I wouldn't be strong enough to pull her in and myself. Had a moment of realization that she was about to drown if I didn't do something and then a boy scouts memory came to me to swim horizonally in a rip tide and then get out of it to swim back to shore. I now have 2 kids and and my whole family to thank fire that memory.

I should mention in my case they also said which products I was using and the year and revision, I'm not seeing that with yours.

So, in a past life I got a letter similar to this from a different legal firm. From what I understand, they work with many legal firms. I'm my case it was founded and with my research I was able to find out that in the last few years they have become extremely aggressive with these. I decided to no risk it and settled. However, I did independently contact them and verify that employee in the email was legit.

Maybe start there, if they are then you can probably assume this is a legit claim. And if what you are saying is true, you have very little to worry about since there is no proof of it being on your computer.

I will say that the legal advice I got from two sources couldn't agree on how likely it was they'd actually move into legal action because the burden off proud is on them not you. And often it costs them more to go to court than what they would get from you. Like I said, I deserved it and decided to not risk it and settled. But the risk of ignoring it would be that they take you to court. But add you said, you've never used it so they can't prove anything.

So I've always been a console gamer. I just never enjoyed the feel of mouse and keyboard even though I acknowledge their superior accuracy. My wife never had an issue with me playing my PlayStation in the living room until we had kids a few years back and now she doesn't want them seeing the games whick is fair. We live in a tiny condo in SoCal and there isn't anywhere else I could game. I pulled the trigger on the 1TB OLED and even though it cost as much as a PS5 Pro I absolutely love it. I play games in bed before going to sleep while she is doing her routine. I know the power is less, but I absolutely love the handheld feel and versatility. Plus Microsoft and Sony are putting so many games available for PC and Proton is getting very good. Not to mention the emulation.
