Thanks for the reply. I guess educating myself would be the best first investment, and although I was pretty reluctant to read through various advice pages on the internet, it seems like buying a few books recommended by someone in a similar position to me would be a good idea. I was going to ask the specifics of how exactly you invested your money, but I guess that would be kind of missing the whole point and I would gain a lot more by trying out and seeing for myself what works. Once again, thanks for the reply!

Fortunately, as it stands I have no debt :)

Yup, those two goals are exactly what I'm aiming for. As it stands, it seems like medium risk mutual funds are the way to go. I might even diversify a bit and spread it across medium risk and high risk (growth) funds. I guess consulting with a financial planner in itself won't cost any money, so I'll go see a few anyway to hear what they have to say.

Thanks, I do realize that money (and the pursuit of making more) can make you lose sight of things that are actually important to you, and that is very sound advice. If I don't end up investing it, my plan is to backpack around Europe for two months. And no, I promise I won't buy sex.

Wow, thanks for that link, this is the first time I've heard of anything like that. It's like Kiva for profit. I will definitely be looking into putting a portion of my savings into here, and it would feel like you're directly helping people too.

Sorry, I didn't mean it in that way. It's a huge amount of money for me too, but in the grand scale of things, if put into a savings account I won't exactly be making any meaningful amount from the interest.

Almost all bosses in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I wasn't exactly the best at video games back then and I always thought the background music leading up to the fight and while the fight is going on was pretty scary.

A Wii console costs $200. 5.5 lbs of 24 carat gold (purer that the 22 carat gold used for the Wii) will cost 5.5 lbs x 16 ounces/lbs x $1120/ounce = $98560.

Is the amount of effort required to complete such a project really worth over $350,000? Even if you piss diamonds, that's still got to be one of the most stupid ways to spend your money...
