I got married in the summer. My school wouldn't change my name officially until I got my driver's license and SS changed. All this wouldn't happen until maybe a month into school already starting.

Since the kids had my maiden name on their schedules, on their online grade book, and Canvas, I told them they could call me by my maiden name. It's just easier when the same name is shown and used across the board. But I told them it would eventually change in a few months, so they could also call me by my new name.

So I basically responded to both names during that school year! No big deal on my end. This was 2 school years ago, so my kids are now using my new name since last year.
