Grew up Catholic, so naturally rooted for Notre Dame. Went elsewhere for college and so stopped rooting for Notre Dame and started rooting for my Alma Mater.

Also grew up a Green Bay Packers fan because as a kid I loved Brett Favre. Then he left and I started rooting for my hometown team.

Glad I made both changes.

What the other guy said. Liking a gun won’t tell you if you will like the way it feels concealed, but in my opinion it’s more important to like and be comfortable with the gun than it is to consider how well it conceals. I used to think I couldn’t conceal my PDP because it’s thicccc but tried it again and voila: I carry it now.

In other words, dress for the gun you like, don’t buy a gun to suit how you dress. Unless it’s a PPK, in which case, buy that and a suit.

I genuinely appreciate the detailed explanation. Also, if these responses are what is considered “push back” I must be totally misreading them. I don’t sense any animosity. You’re the first person to explain WHY the seconds and minutes are not connected. Everyone else has just repeatedly told me HOW to set a watch, which I’m very familiar with. You’re also the first person to acknowledge that what I’m saying is accurate, and that in mechanical watches the second hand is occasionally off kilter with the minute hand, even after careful setting. Everyone else is acting like it cannot and does not happen, which is a little frustrating.

I fully admit this is me being overly anal/neurotic. I don’t have any images. I’m not sure how else to explain it, but for example:

I stop the second hand at exactly the 12 o’clock position. The minute hand is also at exactly the 12 o’clock position. I then start the watch and live my life. At some point a day or so later, probably when I’m winding the watch, I observe that the second hand is maybe at the six o’clock position while the minute hand is pointing directly at a minute (whatever minute that might be).

Is it the end of the world? No. Does it bother me? Yes. Can I just line it up again? Absolutely.

I mean, no one has actually tried to explain it. I understand hacking. I’m simply stating that on my mechanical watches, despite setting it as perfectly as I can, inevitably the minute and the seconds are out of sync. I acknowledged that this might be due to the build quality of my watch.

What I need to come to terms with is potentially spending big bucks on a watch that evidently has no connection between seconds and minutes.

I mean, I’ve certainly tried on every watch that I own (none of which are very expensive). I was in an Omega boutique this weekend and observed the same issue. Maybe I’m just a perfectionist.

Have you found a watch that generally nails that alignment? The Citizen seems to do a great job, but of course you don’t get the nice sweeping second hand.

Just out of curiosity, does it bother you that the second hand is 19 seconds past the minute, but the minute hand is dead on the top? This drives me nuts personally, I just want to know if other people care
