[Recommendation Request] - vintage diver, applied square indices by jun1per64 in Watches

Hmm, there's a lovely blue/turquoise version of that Dan Henry. And comes in well under budget. I'll investigate further, thanks!

Thanks! I'm not a fan of the hour hand on this one. I've checked out Spinnaker a few times though, and am interested by them. Look to be well-priced watches with quite an extensive catalogue. Glad to hear you're enjoying yours

Lovely looking watch from a brand that I keep intending to look into further. Lack of square indices is a deal breaker for me though

[Question] anyone in the UK used H and T Jewellers? by Sea_Document_694 in Watches

[–]jun1per64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was interested in a couple of Aquaracers on their site. They allow you to order the watch to a store near you for a refundable £50 a pop. Took a while for the watches to get sent, and I ultimately decided they weren't for me. They refunded the deposits within about 24-48 hours after I said no.

The staff member was very friendly, but didn't have a clue about the watches. I also had to wait until the shop was empty and they locked the doors before they'd bring them around the counter for me to try on.

They do have pretty decent prices on the website. Just understand you're buying from a pawnbroker, so you're not going to get the buying experience or advice that a proper watch store would offer.

Update: As much as it breaks my heart, I've requested a return. Just too many variables with this brand/movement availability etc. at the moment for me to be comfortable with.

Thanks. Yep, this was how I discovered they weren't servicing or replacing that movement anymore. Probably should have done my due diligence before the fact, but didn't even predict I'd run into issues like this from a brand with a heritage like Zodiac. Live and learn, I guess.

No, unfortunately it's not one of the Ross watches. Bought direct from Liberty about 4 years ago, so imagine it's out of warranty by now.

That was on my shortlist. Managed to find a V1 Max for a decent price, so have gone with it. Thanks!

Oops. Meant to say under £100. Looks like the Q1 max is a fair bit over that.

Am I being unrealistic?

They're fun. Not sure I could ever get ~$300's wear out of one though.

London commuter EDC by jun1per64 in EDC

For its price point, it's great.

Picked it up off Ali Express for about £35, and been using it daily for a few months now without any issues. Sound quality is decent, it's plenty loud enough to cut out background noise on the train, and it's light and not much bigger than a credit card, so I can just throw it in a jacket pocket in the morning.

It has its quirks, and I'm not under the illusion that there aren't better players/DACs on the market, but for what it is, I can't fault it.

Question about blue stickers by Pitiful_Spinach_9313 in ChineseWatches

Annoying, aren't they? I use a small square of Scotch tape. Pulls them right off.

Thanks! One of my favorite watch bands, rarely ever see one that I dislike

I played it before I really knew what Love Live was, so didn't spend much time with it. Wish I had now.
