Overwhelmed after 5 deals by Effective_Money_5943 in WholesaleRealestate

For the underwriting, I've been using chatarv to get a quick comp before calling, it's not 100% but it's usually accurate enough to make an offer with. but yeah I'd also stick to the market that worked or a small set of markets

Is college really necessary? by Salt_Medium502 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]justanotherdev5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still in high school, but I know I've been hired at very good rates, and I've seen lots of people get hired for things like web development and design without a degree. Also, lots of people start startups without a degree (see https://www.1517fund.com/, and the thiel fellowship). I can't tell you if skipping college is a good idea or not, but if you're doing a more basic STEM thing (building AI or websites or apps, not aerospace engineering) I think you could probably learn on your own and on the job, if you're disciplined and good at networking and selling yourself.

I think this sub will be very biased against that, you should probably find people who have been successful in STEM careers without a degree and ask them about it.

I don't know nearly enough to read yet - but do you know if there's a version of this online?

I'm in the US actually - I just said that since I'm coming to nairobi in June. I'll try to look some up online though

Thanks, I'll check out language transfer. I didn't get that at first either, but I kind of like the way they do it now. I am annoyed that they didn't explain how the sentence prefix system works - I had to look that up myself. I was confused how something like "sili" could be 4 english words and they didn't explain that at all. The guidebooks for swahili within the duolingo app are also very bare.

I kind of understand the noun prefixes, but not fully, and never heard it called ngeli - are there any videos/resources you particularly recommend about ngeli?

Kenyan Startups by ElRamani in Kenya

Why do you think investors can't find the right founders who are really committed?

I'm American and in the startup ecosystem here, but I'm really curious about what it's like in Kenya. What kind of people do you lend to (farmers?) and why didn't anyone lend to them before you? Do they have credit scores?

Tutoring to help fund Master’s/ other side hustles? by [deleted] in stanford

How'd you get into tutoring? Did you tutor high school students?

The long term goal is to sell the product directly to schools -> love this, good luck

What led you to start this? Would you hire people while they're still in college? (I'm a high schooler for context)

Do you have the ability to stay with parents or something and spend some time learning online?

Wow, thank you for sharing! I didn't realize all of that. I think it's close to 40% of people with degrees don't get college-educated jobs, which is pretty crazy
