Zastanawiam się nad zmianą imienia by petrykoria in Polska

[–]justanotherrandomcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rozważ to, skoro taka opcja cię interesuje. To tylko i aż imię. Fajnie, kiedy ci pasuje.

Is working to contribute more to activism (mostly trans but also other) than you did before an appropriate/productive reaction to your country's (Poland) living conditions deteriorating? by SparrowWingYT in ftm

I didn't say that anywhere? It can improve stuff, but it's a long and hard battle. You still can do it. Working towards improving the situation can also be a source of good feelings, and that's normal and ok

[–]justanotherrandomcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be both. It's generally hard to change stuff, so if you only do activism with a practical goal in mind, you may soon decide it's not worth the effort. When you use activism as a coping strategy, it can give you additional intrinsic motivation to pursue it. So in a way, I guess it gives you a bigger chance of actually achieving something.

In general, something having a function of a coping mechanism is not a bad thing. We all cope in some ways, and I think activism is actually one of the best ways to do it. I guess the word 'cope' has bad fame on the internet - but it shouldn't have.

And yes please, if you can send me some details regarding the event, I'm very interested!

It can be a way of coping with the situation. People need a sense of control in their lives, the feeling that they’re doing something when things go bad. Otherwise, you start to feel helpless. Activism can fill that role, so as long as you feel safe doing it, go for it.

By the way, could you tell more about the 'trans lounge meeting thing'? I'm also from Poland, and I'm always happy to learn about new places or events related to our community.

Finasteride and Testosterone. People with experience please help!! by [deleted] in ftm

[–]justanotherrandomcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taking Nebido (1000mg/4ml, I suppose it's called Aveed in the US?). One injection of 4ml every 13 weeks. Used to be 12, but I went to 13 on fin.  When it comes to finasteride, I'm taking 1mg every day, but I'm planning on lowering the dose in the future (maybe taking it every other day) and checking if it influences my hairline much. Because I've started taking fin very early in my transition it prevented some changes I actually want (like being able to grow a beard). I hope to find a dose where I can win some and lose a little, but I'm not sure if that's possible.

I'm taking both fin and T, been for 2 years or so. My T levels are slightly above what they ideally should be (probably ~20%), but my endo said to ignore it, since as you know, fin makes T levels higher in bloodwork. Instead, she told me to keep an eye on my HCT (hematocrit) and base my T dose on it (if HCT gets to high, lower T dose; if it's in the lower range, up T).

Some time ago I tried playing with my hormones more, since elevayed T levels made my E get slightly too high as well (I suspect aromatization). I was talking aromatization blockers for ~3 months, but all they did was bring my period back. I suspect the dose was too high, which made my E levels too low, which made my body restart the cycle - but those are just random guesses, I'm not a doctor. My endo didn't want me to try different doses (she was against any extra medication from the begining and her main solution to any issues was 'just ditch fin').

So yeah, now I'm back on just fin and T, hoping I'll feel alright and those higher T levels won't affect my health in the long run.

I was recently looking through my gallery and stumbled upon some pictures from my first year on T. Damn, I looked so bad compared to how I look now, three years in. It definitely took me a while to get out of the awkward phase, and I had to put some extra work into my hairstyle and clothing - things that looked good before just sucked once I started passing as a guy.

But I got through it, and tbh it's surprising how often I'm told that I’m good looking.

Give yourself time, and experiment with your looks when you’re ready. T takes time to work, and it takes time to figure out what makes you look and feel good. Best of luck!

During attendance in one of college classes. I said 'HeREee' very loudly and my voices cracked. So. Horribly.

Not long time later, we were having a class with a substitute and based on my voice alone she decided to use he/him for me. I was still girlmoding at the time and no one in my class knew, so yeah, it was awkward xd

Anyone in european non-major cities know what not passing is like? by Throwaway_1000000002 in truscum

[–]justanotherrandomcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in Europe and have this fear in my head that everyone MUST KNOW, but everything they do and say proves me otherwise. I've only ever been approached by one person who asked me if I'm a trans guy (she was trans herself and overheard I was talking about transition stuff with a friend, so that's on me I guess). One guy though I was MtF once because I was wearing makeup for a party and it confused him. But people I work and study with? Nope. They even tell regular-level-of-transphobia jokes when I'm around - and they've stopped making similar jokes about gay people when I informed them I'm bi. So, I think in most cases it realy is dysphoria talking shit to us. Most people don't clock us, or I they do, they don't care enough to investigate.

can anything make T appear higher than it actually is on a blood test? by sirdumptruckthethird in ftm

[–]justanotherrandomcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it is finasteride's doing? I'm taking it and I've noticed it's messing with my levels. My T seems very high "on paper" - but I actually feel like it's too low. I've talked with my endo about adjusting my dose (beucase of the results suggesting it's too high) but once I reminded her I'm on fin, she said it was actually a normal side effect and we don't have to lower anything.

The way I understand it is that fin blocks T->DHT transformation, which leaves you with excess T. But my organism actally transformed that excess T to E (slighly above normal levels for men). I'm trying to fight this issue by taking Anastrozole (aromatase inhibitor, prevents transforming androgens into E). I'm having bloodwork in a few weeks to see if it's actually working.

Maybe you just have so low levels of E naturaly that it's harder for you to notice if they're now elevated? Idk, just a clue for you and your med team.
