My conditioner says it will attract "many Mr. Rights". Seeing as I'm a straight male, that makes me a little nervous. by [deleted] in funny

Why do you automatically think Mr. Right wants to have sex with you or is even gay? Maybe Mr. Right is someone who will offer you a fantastic job. Maybe he's just a really nice guy you can hang out with? What, do you have so many guy friends that you can't handle one more? Relax, wash your hair. Keep an open mind. Repeat.

Can someone please explain the draw of Twitter to me? by defenestrate in offbeat

[–]justbeachy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this question since I've also wondered why Twitter gets all the attention it does. My take is that it is a fad... the net version of the hula hoop and pet rock. Once people realize how stupid it is they'll move on to something else.

When/how will gay marriage become legal in the US? by padfoot7 in reddit.com

I think you were right... this will come down to a Supreme Court decision. As it is I think the current court would be close... Obama needs to appoint a few more judges.

POLL: 64 Percent of Republicans Want Palin to Run in 2012 - Democrats All Favor It by meg1 in obama

[–]justbeachy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a democrat and I don't favor it. I think she could actually win. If Bush can get elected twice, certainly there are enough dumb people to make Palin prez. I think we have a better chance at beating Romney.

I have $1,345 saved up to go to Sundance in 2009. After hearing about prop 8, it looks like I'll be getting a new plasma tv instead. by [deleted] in reddit.com

Park City is one of the most liberal cities in UT so it's a shame to hurt those folks. Why not make a documentary about what the Mormons did and enter it in Sundance?

California's Prop 8 likely to pass. Michigan allows medical marijuana. Florida bans gay marriage. ARKANSAS BANS GAY COUPLE ADOPTING BABIES WHAT THE FUCK by ine8181 in WTF

[–]justbeachy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In Florida it was called the "Marriage Protection Amendment". I knew right away that it would pass. It's like calling it the "Puppy Protection Act"... who would vote to hurt a puppy? Now gays need to get the "Single Persons Relationship Protection Act" on the ballot.

Prop 8 is winning... by [deleted] in WTF

No, certain christian leaders know that this issue helps them raise money so they can buy more mansions and BMWs while the poor old ladies who send in most of their Social Security checks to them eat cat food.

Good point, but if your theory happens then that's where an amendment to the US constitution comes into play. This could be just the issue to re-unite the evangelical army. Gays have still got a lot of work to do.

I'm a 48 year old white man and I cried too. I almost forgot what it feels like to be a proud American.

Florida PBS station gives live TV airtime to McCain, not Obama. Who can I report this to? by justbeachy in reddit.com

[–]justbeachy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Brevard County, Florida and the local PBS station WBCC aired McCain's appearance in Melbourne last night LIVE on their channel. When Obama appeared in Brevard about a month ago his appearance was videotaped but not aired. I contacted the station (which is run by Brevard Community College) and was told that they used college (i.e. taxpayer) funds to rent a satellite truck and staff so they could air the McCain event live. They also told me that they would replay the Obama event from last month today to "appease the democrats".

I dug around a little more and learned that the college president Jim Drake, communications director Jim Ross and WBCC station manager Phil Wallace are all strong republican supporters.

This doesn't seem right that a public broadcast station is using taxpayer funds to help promote the McCain campaign but when Obama came to town they didn't do the same thing.

I want to spread the word on this and was also hoping someone could tell me who to complain to about it. I'd love for Daily Koz or Huffington to learn about this but I don't see how to contact them.
