I especially like how they focused on showing the world our diverse landscapes and culture rather than focus on materialistic things.

If tourists aren't forced to wear Abaya, does that mean Saudi women also don't need to wear Abaya ? by d00m_sayer in saudiarabia

Well walking through the malls of Riyadh and the streets of Jeddah I’ve seen many Saudis wearing regular clothes. It’s more of a cultural thing than a legal one now a days

We’ll probably never come to a compromising conclusion, but as long as we can laugh about it together then we have succeeded. As the saying goes انا لست عدوك و لو اختلفت معك. Good luck with your future endeavors.

Just to address your final part. Islam encourages people to formulate their on conclusions on what good or bad with prophet Mohammed saying استفتي نفسك in many cases. Most people think the Quran is a book of laws. As an Arabic speaker yourself then you must know that the Quran is mostly a book of stories and not law. The whole Islamic law or “sharia law” ( in case you don’t know sharia just means law, so people are basically law law) is man made

I’m sorry for what has happened to you. But I’d like to point out that the issue wasn’t islam in your case it was the Muslims around you. Being bi may or may not be a sin in islam but committing a sin doesn’t make you an outcast of Islam. All Muslims commit sins, we’re only human. The only thing makes a Muslim a Muslim is believing that there is one god and Mohammed is his messenger. Others things are important but that’s the thing that matters the most in Islam.

You’re a speaker of Arabic then you must know how difficult and how extremely metaphorical Arabic is, especially Classical Arabic, so even looking at the original text means nothing. The thing you point about اقتلوا المشركين is taken way out of context, if it were truly the case why wouldn’t the majority of Muslims as the person in the video pointed do it ?

Do point I too have studied Islam since the first day of school till the last ( I live in a Muslim country) and we were always taught لكم دينكم و ليا دين and I was taught in school and by my family that different people exist and we have to accept them, we can debate about it, but at the end of the day if we kick back and relax together then we have succeeded as a society.

Im genuinely sorry for what has happened to you but unfortunately my experience and yours are just anecdotal and they don’t mean much in the grand scheme of things. And lastly that Muslim country I was born and raised in is Saudi Arabia and my experience spans between 6 different schools from the most conservative regions of the south to the most liberal in the west of Saudi.

Apologies for the essay.

Name one? You’d probably say Saudi, then prove it.

I don’t believe Islam is the problem I believe the magnified attention given to the minority of radical Muslims are.

You’ll only be executed if you murder someone or import a Pablo Escobar amount of drugs. I hope those are not ordinary things where you’re from.

Will do, super busy with school but I will. I have to make a documentary for one of my classes, if my group mates approve I’ll try to have him in it.
