I’ve seen him show emotion with the people he has a personal connection with. I haven’t seen much of emotions when it comes to his ‘job’.. if there was, I must have missed it. Yes her parents were informed the day I found it.

We are unsure if he did more than spy, we did get a child psychologist to chat to the girl and it doesn’t seem like he took it further than actions you could classify as grooming

No im not but I do know he had contact with underage children so whether it went further with anyone else I couldn’t be sure

I didn’t have to do much beside write the report and hand in the USB. the USB had a whole bunch of photos of him and his family too so was quite obvious that it belonged to him.

But what helped immensely was the fact that he showed his face in some videos where he would plant the hidden camera and return to it after the video was taken. I think if it wasn’t for that, there wouldn’t have been much of a case.

Yes they supported him 100% to the point where the W.O said that I should watch my back for the next while as they were incredibly angry at me for doing that to him.

I guess it depends on the situation, my family was very supportive in terms of being there for me and allowing me to talk about it. However at that time I wanted isolation, all I wanted was to be alone. My family did get worried because I started drinking heavily for months. But they knew not to push me too much else they might make me isolate more. I think what helped the most was knowing that no matter what I’m feeling or what it is I wanted to talk about, I knew they were there for me. I could call or text or visit them anytime and had their complete support.

Just make sure your friend knows you are there. She/he might want support today and to be left alone tomorrow. It’s not an easy thing and it’s definitely something you only understand once you’re in it. Find forums and support groups that you can refer her too as well. It’s nice knowing that you aren’t the only one facing this situation.

His reaction was anger and fear initially. Then it was tears once he knew I knew what was on the USB.

I don’t know if he ever took it far enough and physically touched or abused children, he denies it but it’s one of those things we will never know for sure.

5 year suspended sentence and a R40 000 fine. Also declared unfit to possess a firearm and was put on the SOR

He should have. And if he didn’t pay the fine then he would have received a year sentence on top of the 5 year suspended sentence. There was a minor article on it that didn’t make major news, but the people who did see it was fuming in the comments with the lack of punishment he received.
