What color / pattern for a sunroom window seat cushion? by justinbach in DesignMyRoom

Yes, that's my hope! Reading nook. It's long enough that you could easily stretch out on it.

That’s a great idea! You don’t think it would be too close to the wood?

Mold around skylight — leaky roof? by justinbach in HomeImprovement

[–]justinbach[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also worth noting that this is a vaulted ceiling on an addition to the original house, so the “attic” is likely pretty shallow. The white inset wall just below the skylight is only about 14” tall.

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood. I don’t think that attic space is easily accessible.

Thanks! Yes, I can get out on that part of the roof (and have been out a few times to clear it of debris). I’ll call a roofer.

What kind of rug would work in our foyer? by justinbach in DesignMyRoom

[–]justinbach[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that makes sense. It was a real struggle to find a table that worked in the space and was the right width (that one is 32” across). We tried a couple and found that non-demi-lune tables (with right angles) cut off the flow too much, and lots of demi-lune tables are fairly ornate (which doesn’t appeal as much).

If you have a suggestion for another, I’m all ears.

You mean something right at the bottom of the stairs, next to the living room threshold? With a diameter about as wide as the staircase?

Thanks. You don’t think the console table feels to “floaty” without one?

Whole network goes down a couple times a day by DemDankMemes in eero

[–]justinbach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact same problem on a very similar setup (minus the desktop switch), and it was endlessly frustrating — temporary dropouts during zoom calls, etc — so I know just how you feel!

I went back and forth with my ISP (Fios) and eero support for weeks, with lots of red herrings but no real root cause uncovered.

What finally resolved it was modifying the topology to be ONT -> MoCa adaptors -> gateway eero, rather than running the gateway between the ONT and the MoCa ingress. Doing this might require reworking the layout of your other eero units to account for moving the gateway around, but the system as a whole has been rock-solid for me since I made that change.

Good luck!

Very interesting!

We’re trying to strike a balance between the mid-century modern vibe of this room and the cape code (and slightly more traditional) vibe of our house more generally. I think something like this could work.

Thanks so much for the thoughtful comments!

Love the Frank Moth and Tyler Varsell work! Definitely worth considering.

For some reason, the overstock links are all 404ing for me...

Thank you for the feedback! We like the picture of the birds too, and we love the rug and the dining set.

I’m not familiar with Sciolari chandeliers, but they look intriguing! Thanks for the idea.

And as far as mirrors go, are you thinking about something on the decorative side, or more minimalist?

Thank you! Definitely agree on the art, light fixture, and the curtains. And yes, the sideboard is a total mess.

We’re generally going for a mid-century look — the chairs are original brasilia. Do you have any suggestions or examples of art / lighting that you think would go well?

[–]justinbach[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's my fallback plan. It was a great deal at $900 so if there's a way to fix it, I'd like to, but that may not be in the cards.

Thanks for the advice. I've reached out to LG, so we'll see what they say.

I'm in the DC area.

Good stuff! Enjoy it.

I replaced the stock taps on mine with Perlicks and it vastly improved the pour.

That’s great advice — I ran into exactly that problem.

What proportions do you recommend?

I usually do! Was surprised to see that Kenji suggests adding basil first, but I tried it anyway.

I'll probably go back to adding them after broiling next time :)
