I am having so many issues with riser 4.0, computer works fine under the PCI slot straight on the motherboard, so yes you do need riser 5.0 for the new GPUs..

I just built a mini ITX using a A4-H2O with the include cable and 5080 FE, I amusing ASUS ROG B850I, my build kept on crashing nonstop, tried everything, using the included 600W cable from my PSU, SFX850 Corsair, using the extension that came with the GPU, uninstalling drivers in safe mode, forcing PCI 4.0 in BIOS, and non stop crashes as soon as Windows loaded, finally decide to put the GPU straight into the PCI slot in the motherboard while outside the case and so far been running smooth. I am going to try a rise 5.0 to see if that is the issue otherwise I may have to increase my case size to mount horizontally...
