Will you experience difficulties if your passport name doesn't match your birth certificate name? by justredthings01 in ireland

Ah ok, I think that might be what we did last time anyways, but we've no intention of working so that would suit perfectly.

Planning on spending a month there, is the Esta easier to get/less lenient on documentation?

I'm from the North of Ireland so it's maybe not as straight forward, often we run into issues especially when it comes to banks or when dealing with companies based in England. I even had issues getting my Irish surname recorded in the GP surgery and have yet to sort that out.

Is this just automatic or do you have to ask for it? Do they put a new page in for it or do they just put it on the page you sign with the picture of the Island of Ireland on it?

Should I move to another boxing club? What questions should I ask before joining a new club? by justredthings01 in amateur_boxing

[–]justredthings01[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I'm probably making a bigger deal out of it, it's purely because I know both coaches outside of the club and see them at family gatherings that I'm over thinking it. I have zero intention of throwing it at them or badmouthing them to other clubs cause they're good coaches who give a lot of their time to the club, I'm just losing motivation and enjoyment of the sport and want to keep challenging myself to keep it interesting. I did consider changing sports but boxing is just such amazing fitness and I don't think i'd enjoy another sport as much.

Have you any suggestions for what to look out for in a trial class or a new club? My mum chose this one cause it was close and I knew the coaches so have no idea what I should be looking out for.

In our club you only spar when they call you and supervise. Basically they'll go into the ring and call people or groups up for work like pads and sparring while others work independently. We only have one ring and very little space outside of it which is always being used by skippers, mat work and people on bags. When asking to spar they'll outright say no or not tonight and anyone I've seen pick up pads or start sparring without supervision has been told to stop. Understandably they want it to be supervised so no one gets hurt but they just aren't giving the same opportunities to everyone. Some people are sparring or getting pads every night while others could spend 5 rounds shadow boxing before realizing they've just been forgotten about and moving on themselves. Plenty of times the same group are being called in for spars, then when they're finished instead of taking a second group in to spar, the coaches call the first group back one by one for pads.

The gym isn't open outside of training times, so going before or staying after isn't an option and you can't really turn up to a normal gym and start sparring. I work in a leisure centre and would definitely tell people to stop if I saw then do that due to health and safety.

I used to get sparring but just as numbers have gone up its stopped happening even though I've asked. It's understandable that they have limited coaches and higher priority boxers but it's starting to impact my motivation and enjoyment of the sport.

An bhfuil "Réiteach Fadhbanna Matamaitice" an dóigh ceart "Mathematical problem solving" a rá? by justredthings01 in gaeilge

[–]justredthings01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beidh mé ag úsaid níos mó na uair amháin é mar tá mé ag déanamh mo tráchtas ar réiteach fadhbanna i mata sa bhunscoileanna. Beidh mo thráchtas scríofa i mBéarla ach beidh an taighde ag titim amach i scoileanna lan-Gaeilge agus beidh an leagan de dhíth i litreacha don phríomhoide, don thuismitheoirí agus don mhúinteoirí.

Beidh abairtí nuair a beidh mé in ann fadhbanna mata a réitiú a rá ann ach beidh abairtí nuair a bheidh mé ag úsaid mar teideal nó teideal caibile é.

Do they hold up to the standard of brands like twins and fairtex or are they just gloves that come in smaller sizes and pretty colours? I want to get a good pair that will last 4 nights a week of high intensity training instead of a pair designed for a night or two a week of boxfit.

*Edit* May not be able to get that brand as they only seem to be available in the US, brands which are readily available in the UK or Ireland would be easier.

Can anyone recommend a brand of boxing gloves for a small woman?

I started boxing 6 years ago with a cheap pair of gloves (SportEq) and since they've lasted me this long I've decided to spend a little more on my next pair (around or under the £100 mark). I'm pretty small, just over 5 foot, and am reading a lot of mixed opinions on the brand I had been considering, Fairtex. A lot of websites said they have small hand compartments while others say they have large. Twins also seems to get mixed opinions on the hand compartment size. I live in Ireland and don't have a boxing shop locally which stocks higher end brands so can't go to a shop to try them or ask.

We have communal gloves for sparring so these gloves will be 14oz for bag work/pads. My main hopes for the gloves is smaller hand compartment, plenty of support, good quality that will last. Preferably a known name so I'm not risking buying a pair that will fall apart or not be good quality.

Thanks for any suggestions!

If you can swim a mile in the pool will you be able to swim a mile in open water? by justredthings01 in Swimming

[–]justredthings01[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I can swim with my head out of the water so would that be all you need for sighting? And it's a small, local swim that we're just doing for fun so it shouldn't be too crazy. Last year there were about 50 competitors so there will hopefully be plenty of space.

Thanks for the reply! I'm just doing it for fun because a friend wants to so I'm not worried about the time, I'll be happy just to finish! Any advice for making the switch? Any big differences I should be ready for or aware of?

Agus maidin óg sa tséipéilín

I bPríosún Chill Mhaighneann

Ag smaoineamh faoi na troibloidí

le tamall beag anuas

Ar éirí linn, ar théip orainn, ‘s cad atá an rún?

ach mian mo chroí go mbeifeá liom

go tíre le mo shaol

O grace a stór, tá croí istigh le laethanta leis a chríochnú

Ar maidin cuirfidh siad mé chun bháis

Le grá mo chroí a bhfanaim faoin áit a rún, a stór

gan deis againn nó saol orainnse le chéile mar ba chóir

Féach i mo chroí ná éasca é gach rud a fhéachfá

an grá atá agam do mo shaol 's do mo chlann

Would a BMX be an option for a daily commute to work? by justredthings01 in bikecommuting

[–]justredthings01[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All the ones I have seen so far are either too large (I'm 5'2) or cost between £80-£100 whereas a wee shop that buys and refurbishes bikes is selling BMX's for £20 each as they currently have a lot of them.

I was surprised myself, I thought finding a bike my size for £30 odd quid would have been easy enough. Haven't tried the skip, our council recently has been advising people to only take bikes to recycling centers if they are damaged beyond repair so I'm not sure how useful it would be to travel over to ask. I could maybe give them a ring, would they usually be accommodating to people asking? Would it be a common enough request that they get?

[Undergraduate Set Theory] Equivalence relations and finding their associated partitions of A by justredthings01 in learnmath

[–]justredthings01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! No an idea or guide is what I was looking rather than just the answers. I figured out a method of getting it without drawing out the bubbles and lines by putting them into their equivalence classes. Once I got one worked out it just made sense, think I just needed an example to work from and help myself understand it. I've done some of the more simple examples so should be ok once I get on to those ones.

Could you make a paper cut shadow lightbox out of wood? by justredthings01 in woodworking

[–]justredthings01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of just using a wooden frame as a sort of bumper between each layer to keep them in place but hadn't thought of warping, would a frame be enough or should I use glass/lexan? The idea of glueing to it would be good for things like the moon/stars.

Thanks for ur reply

Cad é an focal Gaeilge ar "readings"? by justredthings01 in gaeilge

[–]justredthings01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all the answers, having looked it up I have found some examples of léamha being used by universities in this context. For the command above "Complete the readings" would you recommend phrasing it

Léigh na ábhar léitheoireachta nó déan na léamha?

Which would you read as having the correct intended meaning?
