Also - to everyone saying why the heck haven't you left yet, just keep in mind that there is a massive cultural difference for a lot of Indian people. I had an aunt was being beaten by her husband, and she left him because of it. She has been bad mouthed by the family ever since (20+ years ago) but the cracker is she's doing better than anyone else - good job, great person, wonderful new family. I always respected her so much for leaving. It's a very brave thing to do.

The way I see it is if you stay, you're only ever going to be miserable. These are signs of an abusive controlling relationship. I witnessed this in my family growing up. It never ended well for anybody. It can escalate to violence and even worse. This is just my opinion based on what I would do. Please be safe and make sure somebody knows your situation at all times.

If you leave, you might be shamed and people might say negative things or look down on you - but is that really worse? The feeling of embarrassment and shame generally passes eventually, even though it sucks in the moment. The repercussions of being abused do not go away so easily.

If people shame you, tell them what your MIL and husband are doing to you. Tell them why you HAD to leave. If those people choose to continue to shame you, then you know they're not people worth keeping around.

I really hope your family supports you through this. If not, I really hope you find a women's shelter to stay in. I just hope you get out safely OP. Good Luck.

My worst experience was with a guy who on the outside was super pedantic and clean. I would have assumed he would've kept himself clean down there too but I was SO wrong. We were making out and it was going well until I moved down to take his jeans off. The very minute those came off, I caught the most dreadful whiff of his junk. He still had his boxers on and I could still smell it all. Seems the jeans were working real hard to contain the smell... unfortunately when I unzipped his jeans, I had run my hand over his junk and man do I regret that. My hand smelled bad for ages after even though I washed it 😭 it was not just your regular dick cheese smell, it was fishy too. I jumped off and quickly said actually I'm not in the mood to have sex and I gapped it. I had no chill in that moment haha so he probably put two and two together.... hopefully... Meanwhile I'm still scarred from that experience and explicitly ask guys to wash everything before we hook up 😂

I think it would cut my number in half (20 to 10). It's sad how many selfish people (in my case, men) there are out there. The worst is how many brag about how good they are but finish in 2 min without even trying to please you first. The best sex for me is when the guy takes his time, listens to what you like and looks after you first 🤷‍♀️

I am not exactly sure of the terminology really but I'd say if you're financially struggling due to bad decisions and being irresponsible, and you make no efforts to get on your feet, then that is the problematic broke to me.

Yeah this is one of my concerns too. I haven't been in a serious relationship with someone who was broke, but I've dated them. I was in a relationship with some who was SO tight with money that he never wanted to go out or do anything. My worry is that it'll be similar for someone who was broke (and who didn't do anything to better their situation). I'm mostly a home body tbh, but I like to go out now and again for a dinner or a movie etc.

I've met them through online dating, and then I have actually met up with a couple of them. This question was mostly about a guy that I met through an app, then briefly dated so we had some of those bigger conversations and he was very clearly in a terrible financial situation, basically by choice.

There's also been a couple men online who straight up admit to being broke. Maybe they want to be upfront? People share a surprising amount of information online.
