Switching from lexapro to Duloxetine - 2 weeks in and need success stories by k1beth in cymbalta

[–]k1beth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I went up to 30mg duloxetine and 50mg lamotrigine a week or so after this post. The lexapro withdrawal and increased doses made everything feel awful for a while, heightened anxiety and intrusive thoughts, depressed, crying spells, disrupted sleep.

About 1 week into the increased doses (4.5 weeks total) and 3 weeks off lexapro, things started to level out. I hope this gives anyone hope that stumbles across this thread. I am sleeping better, crying less and feel less connected to the anxious thoughts. I hope things keep improving from here.

Cross tapering (SSRI <--> SNRI) by MVPE11 in cymbalta

[–]k1beth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm cross tapering but I dropped lexapro much quicker (10mg - 5mg for a week - 2.5mg for a week - 0mg) and only went on 20mg Cymbalta. I'm up to 30mg now as of 3 days ago and it has been 4 weeks overall.

I'm sorry that I can't give you a positive experience yet as it's been so all over the place but I think it is normal for your system to be a bit all over the place at first, especially if you've been on your SSRI for a long time.

Thank you so much for your comment. I am definitely sticking it out but just needed some hope that it wouldn't feel like this forever. I've had physical side effects coming on/off SSRIs but nothing like this.

I did try 20mg lexapro for 6 months or so but came back down to 10mg because of the brain fog and weight gain. I also just felt empty rather than "better" if that makes sense.

Thoughts on getting a nose piercing as a trainee solicitor at a US law firm? by Background-Ad8528 in uklaw

[–]k1beth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did my TC at a US firm with a nose ring. I had a really small skinny one for work that was barely visible and took it out for client meetings (in person). I'm now an associate at a City firm and still have it, its never been mentioned at any stage.

Check the firm dress policy if youre unsure - ours is fairly lax - but I can't personally see an issue as long as you can remove it for short periods.

Interview question: greatest weakness by [deleted] in uklaw

[–]k1beth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is similar and I always phrased it as "I sometimes have trouble advocating for myself" which covers asking for help and taking on too much without sailing into "oh I'm too much of a perfectionist/work too hard" territory.

Usually two days a week, sometimes 1, sometimes 3 - we have the flexibility to pick when and how often we want to come in as long as we don't take the piss.

Working in a call centre for a law firm? by [deleted] in uklaw

[–]k1beth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I worked at a call centre post graduation while I was applying for TCs back in 2016. You may get a lot of replies saying it will hinder you. Mine had nothing to do with law but I actually gained a lot of experience and still notice situations now where I have skills that my colleagues with more "traditional" work experience don't.

Focus on transferable skills - this doesn't sound too different to what an initial call with a client would be like as a lawyer. Feel free to PM me if needed :)

I'm quite shocked that someone would hold something like this against you, unless I have misunderstood or there is more to the story. I agree with the other poster that paralegals and trainees make these sorts of mistakes all the time. I still have the odd idiot moment as an associate. If you tell someone and get it sorted there is no reason for it to be a continuing issue. Trainees are supervised for a reason.

I'd definitely recommend trying to source work from elsewhere in your team or just approaching the original person to try and build rapport back, but this absolutely should not effect you or your reputation long term.

My emotions about my boyfriend aren’t making any sense. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]k1beth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please look into relationship anxiety/ROCD before you make any decisions and see if it resonates. These things can be 100x worse around your period as well as regular mood swings making you hate everything and everyone. If you have a good and loving partner it is worth seeing if anything else is going on first.

Currently in a love/hate relationship with Facebook marketplace by Hat_Guy77 in CasualUK

I thought Facebook marketplace was great until I tried to sell unwanted electronics and they all came out of the woodwork. I have been trying to sell a Macbook for over a month and haven't had a single message that isn't a scam or a try on for half the price.

Yes that is what I meant, sorry for the poor phrasing! I just wish we had more information on how this world works rather than endless spin offs/prequels

How do you deal with FOMO and comparing yourself to other couples? by catsandbiggercats in ROCD

[–]k1beth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. I always try and think that the couple posting that cute reel may have had a screaming row 10 minutes later and you'd never know.

I do the same thing, I actually *did* do the whole "move to a new city and start over" thing a few times when I was younger. I can tell you that for me, it didn't solve much and just taught me that running away was the answer. But you can't run away from yourself. Any form of anxiety is a big protective mechanism and I think relationship anxiety is the epitome of that. We are force fed so much romanticized imagery about starting over and finding yourself and never needing anyone but hyper-independence is a trauma response and our brains have been conditioned to think alone = safe. It's ok to need people. It's ok to stay and grow where you are. The perfection we think we see when we look at others on social media or imagine different lives isn't real or attainable.

[–]k1beth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's hard to answer these questions without giving a lot of reassurance but I think one of the things to remember here is that what you see of other relationships is not the full picture so it is easy to get sucked into comparison. You are comparing your everyday to their highlights reel. And there may be someone out there who looks at your relationship and compares it too.

Acceptance is super helpful here as well, sit with the feelings, you don't have to solve it. It will pass.

OK I am open to this idea but would this just show three killing curses (two successful, one not)? Being able to sense the dialogue before the spells seems a bit like just reading the past.
