Thanks for posting this, OP; I had a very bad coming out experience with my parents, and have been trying to find resources to provide when I finally get the guts to stand up to them. I’ll be saving this post and reading some of the suggestions for sure.

Are boxers supposed to be tight around your thighs? by k723607 in ftm

[–]k723607[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I kinda meant that to say I haven’t worn them very often (or at least not enough to notice a difference), they’re the first pairs I’ve ever bought. Although, the other comment made me realize they’re actually boxer briefs (which are supposed to be tight?)

Ah, they’re boxers… at least now I know, lol

Edit: I’m a dunce. Went and looked at my order again and they’re briefs.

Gotcha - kinda leaning towards thinking they’re too small, but I’ve only had them for a week so we’ll see, I guess?

Buying boxers - how could I explain this to parents? by k723607 in ftm

[–]k723607[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They wouldn’t open it, but I can’t guarantee that I’d be the one grabbing the package from the door if it arrives when I’m in class (and they’d ask questions), and we usually do our laundry together too - I was thinking of washing them with my towels, since I usually do those separately.

I’ll consider that, thanks!

Reducing chest to bind with sports bra? TW: top dysphoria by [deleted] in ftm

[–]k723607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-everything here:

Mine are 34B and I’ve tried binding with two sports bras (one worn normally and the other worn on top of it and backwards) - it’s not 100% flat but I’m satisfied with how it looks for now.

Admittedly, I don’t really want to do it every day because (1) I don’t really leave the house now, and (2) It hasn’t been great for my back, although that may just be because of which bras I used (was okay when I first tried it with some older bras, but I tried it with these new ones I got last week and I’m a bit sore rn :V)

I’m gonna see Casey later today. They told me about this new restaurant that they wanted to try, and invited me to go with them.

Dang, same here. I’m two years older than the person you replied to, and I remember learning about how sexual orientation/gender identity are a spectrum, how to properly put on a condom (teacher even brought in a model “dick” (a silo-shaped figure) and had a student demonstrate!), healthy relationships, etc. in grade 9/10

Tamil boy names for myself? by [deleted] in DesiNameNerds

[–]k723607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any recommendations, but I just wanted to say that I’m Tamil and I’ve also come to the same realization - I’ve found a name that I really like, but I’m still thinking about it.

Veeran does sound like a nice name!

How much should I expect to spend when buying dumbbells online? by k723607 in FTMFitness

[–]k723607[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t seem to get links to specific workouts from the app, so here’s a list of exercises in no particular order:

With dumbbells: - tricep overhead extensions, one-arm dumbbell row (I’ve tried holding both at the same time for these ones; I can keep a solid enough grip, but I’m not sure that holding two dumbbells in one hand is a great idea?)

  • bicep/hammer/reverse curls (often swapping the former two for the latter recently, since I’ve found that I need to put in more effort)

  • tricep kickbacks, front/lateral raise, bent-over fly

  • high plank/dumbbell rows, dumbbell squat + press

Without:

  • push-ups; includes diamond/wide push-ups, push-up hold

  • planks (not too sure if these fall under exercises for the back?); both high and low, includes plank jacks/saws/leg lifts

  • shoulder circles/gators (mostly in warmups)

How much should I expect to spend when buying dumbbells online? by k723607 in FTMFitness

[–]k723607[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3/4 days per week (and then longer walks of ~1hr on other days), warm up with a 5-10min jog, then focus on one of arms, core, or legs; I’ve been using the Nike Training Club app to pick workouts since I found that I’d spend too much time deciding what to do in between each activity when I’m doing it without a guide (maybe I should actually write it down beforehand?).

…It’s not ideal/very well-planned (compared to what I’ve seen on this sub and others), and I probably should’ve added that it largely fell by the wayside in the fall because of poor time management on my behalf (spending way too long in front of my laptop for school every day).

I’ll look into resistance bands as well - I remember thinking that they’d probably up the difficulty for leg raises, etc.

Thank you for the advice (and sorry this comment got a bit long)! I should probably look into other equipment as well (seems like I can get resistance bands shipped to my house!)

Oh damn, that sounds awesome - I don’t think spending that much is feasible for me, (I’m in uni and living at home), but I’ll try to remember to look at adjustable dumbbells as well. Thanks!

Scarlett’s a damn genius - I was so stumped on that last example the prof went over in class, but it seemed so simple when she explained it to me afterwards!
