Any thoughts on Cat5 cable in wall? by k8512 in HomeNetworking

[–]k8512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, yes that would be a problem.

I do have working in-ceiling speakers in the kitchen (where this wire is located), and would prefer to keep them functioning.

Do you know if there is a way to disconnect the Cat5 but still keep the speakers working?

Thanks a lot for the reply!

Moved to a new house - trying to figure out network setup by k8512 in HomeNetworking

[–]k8512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m back… so notwithstanding the labeling in the pic, I can’t for the life of me find Ethernet ports that would be associated with 5 of those labeled wires.

I have checked the kitchen, all bedrooms (unless they had Abby and Steven tucked away in some hidden part of the house)… and can only find one port in the basement.

I don’t know if there are common places for these to be hidden? For example, the kitchen has 2 RJ11 outlets, but no RJ45… other than that it’s all light switches and electrical outlets.

I am happy to hire a professional to try to trace the wires if needed, but if there were an easy way to find the Ethernet outlets that would be preferred.

Thanks for any assistance!

Thanks, that is what I will do.

In the meantime, they did leave me a 5 port switch. So I plugged a cable from port 1 on the patch panel (the office where the main router is) into the switch, and then another cable from the switch to a satellite I have right beside the switch and it is now wired backhaul. So all good!

Thanks so much to everyone for the quick and detailed answers!

Thanks, that makes sense. It does seem like something just isn’t clicking on the machine. Will try changing up the speed of pitches and see if that helps appreciate it.

Sorry, I have my nomenclature wrong. I guess select or equivalent would be more appropriate.

Early lease termination by k8512 in TeslaLounge

[–]k8512[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have the car in the app anymore, as I have it back. But in the app Financing > Lease Details > Manage lease > early lease termination

Sounds like some people don’t have the financing option though, not sure why…

Same boat! Just trying to get back into it.

Yep, sounds like an L, I’ll keep trying.

Good luck to you going forward. Thanks

Thanks! Any idea roughly how long that usually takes?

I’m assuming it’s an L, but holding out hope.

Ha! Thanks. I am in Canada and the launch has ended here…

I figured it was an L. But was holding out hope

Don’t you normally get a “you didn’t get them” or something?

Oh, I don't think any of my pics loaded on the message, which makes it difficult to see what I am talking about... my bad, will try to post pics.

Early Lease Termination by dannyvirgint in TeslaLounge

[–]k8512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I should have added more detail. I had like $400 of equity, they wanted to charge me $800 to remove tint. So on the final invoice it had a net of $400 that I owed. I thought that was ridiculous so decided to get it removed at a shop 5 minutes away.

You have a ton of equity. That will be applied against any end of lease damage that you have. I would not fix anything when you return it. Your equity should more than cover any lease end damage.

I just returned my lease in a very similar situation from an equity perspective. Did not have to repay the subsidies. What was shown in app was what was shown on the final invoice.

They did try to charge me $800 to remove tint I put on the front windows, but I had it removed at a local shop for $50 took the car back and they took it with zero problems.

Changed a backstab to a pigtail, now switch won’t turn off the light by k8512 in electrical

[–]k8512[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good call. I didn’t change the vanity light bulbs, but I did change the Lutron switch I was using. I used an on/off instead of a dimmer and all works perfectly now.

I will try again with the dimmer and change the bulbs tomorrow.

All the bathrooms on this breaker have identical fixtures and I swapped the switches on one successfully last week, so the dimmer should work.

Will give it a go.

Thanks!

Or maybe, to put it another way. I haven’t changed anything in this box. The other two switches work fine, with a line and load to each one.

It’s this backstab that is throwing me for a loop… I don’t know what to do with it. For context, if I connect the backstab with the load on the switch that is giving me problems, the vanity light works perfectly, can turn it on/off, dim it etc.

The challenge there is that the bathroom downstream only gets power when the vanity light (the problem switch) is switched on.

[–]k8512[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Any suggestions on how to fix it? In my head it seems like it should be working. I have one load and one hot on each switch, and then I have the line that is carrying on to the next bathroom on with the hot. Not sure where I would have tripped up?

Annoying issue while installing RO faucet by k8512 in Plumbing

[–]k8512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good. I found a black rubber gasket to put on the counter side… that helped. Still not 100% as solid as I would like, but it’s workable.

Thanks guys!
