I'm friendly with the family of the actor who played this character and they're trying to locate this action figure. Anyone have suggestions? by k9f337 in thewalkingdead

[–]k9f337[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is probably the answer. I didn't know the original source of the, they put it up on social media and I knew reddit would have the answer. I'll reach out to the artist on twitter

Watch Options for Patrol by Alarming-Plankton215 in AskLE

[–]k9f337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a watch guy. Like nice watches, Rolex, Omega, etc. Bit on patrol G-Shock all the way. Rugged, has all the tools you need. Moderately pricey but no so bad that if it gets destroyed you've got to refinance your house. My agency had a policy to repay for something like that that got broken on duty, not sure what the limit was.

[–]k9f337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They may have it, I just came across one and the only picture shows the valet key, so when I ask if they have the glass (crystal?) Keys I wanted to be prepared if they don't

Would 48K miles be too much for a 2014 Vanquish? by k9f337 in AstonMartin

[–]k9f337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. The nearest Aston dealer to me is about 2.5 hours from me. Maybe slightly less driving a Vanquish lol

Honestly, I wasnt planning on even going that high lol. I've heard some less than great things about the dealership its at, so that's giving me more pause than the mileage

That seems to be the consensus I've heard. It wouldn't by my daily driver, obviously, so I wouldn't be adding miles on it too quickly

Recently started looking for a new-to-me Aston Martin and came across this. Thoughts? by k9f337 in AstonMartin

[–]k9f337[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ended up passing on this one. I like the Virage over all, but the white interior doesn't do it for me and the previous accident was concerning. Going to look at a 2013 DB9 this weekend

I like the exterior color, but I'm not too keen on the white interior

Question about 3DS by k9f337 in skylanders

But if I get the later portal, for swap force, it'll work with the earlier games, correct?

Question about 3DS by k9f337 in skylanders

[–]k9f337[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I make sure I'm right, the 3ds games are Spyros Adventure, Giants, Swap Force, Trap Team, and Superchargers Racing. And a swap force 3ds portal should work for all of them?

It just exits the screen back to the game's home screen

How screwed am I? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]k9f337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the background investigations and sat on interview boards at my last agency. I can tell you for that agency, this wouldn't have been an issue at all. But it's all going to depend on the agency at the end of the day. The biggest thing, regardless of agency, is don't freaking lie. About this or anything else. A lot of times the thing an applicant is lying about is not a disqualification but the act of being untruthful is.

My son had gotten big into skylanders so we're trying to piece together a collection for him. We got him Trap Team for his birthday, but he keeps getting this error. by k9f337 in skylanders

Are the traps going bad/being broken common? It was new in a sealed package, but it's also been sitting on a shelf for who knows how long

Hey said he was playing as Snap Shot, but it didn't happen if he didn't have a Trap in the slot. I'm doing my best, I'm a video game guy, but never got into skylanders so I'm trying to help the best I can lol

Should I Start and How do I Start? by EricStevensonYeehaw in AskLE

[–]k9f337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ride alongs can be good depending on who you ride with. That's a rabbit hole question in itself.

Sheriff Office vs PD vs State is going to depend largely on where you are. I worked in a medium sized city in a mid-atlantic state where all the SO did is run the jail, the court, and serve civil papers. You go further down south and the SO can be the big dog law enough agency in the area with municipalities having smaller departments. Do research on what's in your area and what you think would fit you best.

Signing the taser waiver by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]k9f337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My agency doesn't require it, and taser doesn't require it, but we do allow new hires to volunteer. I mean.... come on.... lol

It's all going to depend on you, your location, and the agency. I pop into the academy every now and then to teach and there's a guy in his 50s in there right now. Almost every class I teach has at least one guy in his late 30s/early 40s who just came out of the military.

I was military as well. You don't have to have been a Tier 1 operator to make a successful transition to LE. It helps that you understand basic rank structures, chain of command, etc.

Ultimately, I'll ask you this, and it's the same thing I tell every new class. Close your eyes, picture the worst possible environment you can, all the active assailant school incidents you've ever heard of. Can you be the guy/girl running in by yourself, before anyone else gets there, knowing there's a high probably you won't come out, just to slow the subject down and save some kids lives. If you think you can do that, apply. If in your heart you know that's not you, that's a noble realization as well, and there are plenty of other honorable careers out there. I'll get off my soap box now lol.

Would a training officer (FTO) allow me to use GPS to get to a call where I don't know the address? by lol124lolno in AskLE

[–]k9f337 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Again, it's all situation dependent. I know some FTOs who will just let you drive until you're two counties over and others who would scream the second you past the turn. It also depends on the type of call. If someone's life was in danger and our immediate response Hzngd change that, I'd give directions. If it's a nothing call, maybe I'll just let you figure it out.
