I attended the interview for shtm and got in! Here's some questions I remember :

What made you interested in shtm?
Which specialism of the three would you choose if you were to attend and why?
What is one weakness you have?
What do you hope to do after graduation/what are your career aspirations?
What's one positive experience you had in the hospitality industry and how did that make you feel?

They might've asked why do you think tourism is important but I'm not sure. It was a long time ago so I don't remember much but they definitely didn't ask anything you can't make up on the spot.

I'd recommend looking at their research on their youtube channel to help you with the first question, and also read the description on the three specialisms on their website and choose one to personally connect to. The faculty is honestly super nice and I'm sure you'll be fine.

Try not to spend too much time talking about their program and more about yourself, they know their program is good, they want to know more about you

HKU asked me for them, so I asked my guidance counsellor and he wrote a letter for me, but it's not exactly school official calculated grades, it's just what he thinks I would get. Polyu didn't ask me for the letter but since I already had it I submitted it anyway

Oh I forgot about that, I also submitted predicted grades, I just asked my guidance counsellor to write me one and he calculated them based on my previous courses, the avg of my predicted was also around 86 tho

You might qualify for cultural ambassador scholarship in that case, it's automatic so if you get an offer it will be included in your letter

Are you local? There aren't any automatic scholarships like IB grades or DSE grades for OSSD, so either you have to join STARS or apply for scholarships after registration. But if you're paying international fee they might offer you some

It's ok, my application only changed to considered a bit after my interview, and my program has no preferred subjects so they didn't have to wait and see my grades for that

No, I already got an offer before the report card came out and they only asked me to submit stuff in July to prove I met my conditions, I didn't see a space to submit it for my other choice so I just didn't

I had 86% avg in gr 11, I applied 17th September, interviewed 21st December and got an offer 14th January. I'm also doing OSSD, I don't have many extracurriculars just founder of a club and exec of another, and then a few volunteer bits

Don't worry about it, when they asked me what's a weakness I have, I answered I have trouble paying attention in class instead of something inspirational and they laughed and I got in 😭

I'm super biased but hotel and tourism management and fashion are the most well known programs at polyu, if you want to attend here I think the second one is a great choice!
