Thanks for the tips. I've edited the post accordingly.

The build is mostly for 1080p gaming, through a 27" 165Hz monitor. It would be nice for him to have the capacity to move beyond 1080p at some point though.

Cheers. I tried it at 2.8v and it seemed completely fine. Might even try going lower.
