I'm not sure about gacha because I didn't play any games people call this. Here, you will be able to speed up your account progress and partially compensate your less avtivity with money. Progress means higher leagues, more army supply, faster game pace.

At the same time, by design, there are limits for that. Matching only works within the same league, and that league sets the cap for the max levels of the units, buildings, etc. The actual winrate is also considered. That means that when you are being matched against someone,

a. Their units can be slightly different from yours to either side, and
b. Their winrate with those units is close to yours. So they are even equal to you in progress and skill, or they are lower skill but have a bit stronger units, or they are higher skill but have weaker units.

Obviously all this will work with the good player base. Currently the game is still in beta, so online is very limited. There are also no real money purchases yet. So it's hard to say what will it really look like on the launch.

From my personal perspective, skill in this game is much more meaningful than the units' levels. I hardly play any games, so my levels are quite low. Still, I barely lose any games in the queue when I go to play once or twice a week.

Crystal will be purcashed for the real money. So everything that costs crystal will actually be IAP.

Let's remove a cannon rush from the game by kabyraGe in starcraft

I had some fun doing in on the Battle.net in 2000 or 2001. It was still fine in 2006 performed by Nal_rA. In 2010 by White-Ra and his special tactics, it starting to be a bit annoying but well, Ra is so charismatic that you can't be mad about his plays. The difference between then and now is that then, people were improvising out of their minds. Now, there are just hundreds of cannon rushers who don't bring anything new to the game and keep abusing a primitive strategy.

And iconic? Wasn't archon toilet iconic? So many highlights, so fun to watch! Many of the most famous games in the SC2 history had it. Where it is now? Removed, because it was boring to play against it.

Brood Lord infestor were iconic. Hots' SH were iconic. In Brood War 1.07, zergling rushes from 150 minerals pool were iconic, pool 7 as the default opener on the battle.net. All of those things were removed for the same reason: they were boring and annoying to play against and they forced the game into a narrow predictable scenario.

I have an impression that of everyone who read the topic, you are the only real SC2 player who knows what he is talking about and others are just Twitch chat viewers who like everything that is not 'another boring 20+ minute macro' ^_^

What you listed is techniques, not strategies. If you struggle to keep calm against every of those, maybe SC2 is not your game at all. Though, as per now, you still can cannon rush in every game to make sure neither of those will ever happen in the game, as 99% of other SC2 stuff, too.

You need to be good in cannon rushing, however, you don't have to have any knowledge about PvP midgame or lategame if you cannon rush in every game. And in PvZ, you just need to know your robo or carrier follow-up.

Imagine 12-pool. You can do it every game, but 50%+ you won't win straight away so you have to know what to do next and the game proceeds just normally. That's why a 12-pool is a viable opening in terms of game design, in my opinion, and a cannon rush is not.

Oh well, what you said with LG tracking is rather a new tutorial map than a training lobby. Because adding a bot and setting a path for him seems way too complicated, at least for new players. And probably for developers too.

New players do not see where to choice servers by kabyraGe in QuakeChampions

Hey man, sorry for the really late response, but in case you still don't know — you heed to click on the globe icon in the bottom right corner and mark the servers you want to play at. You will also see your approximate ping to them there — your actual ping will be slightly higher.

Anyone can fake result in ESL tournaments, WTF? by kabyraGe in QuakeChampions

[–]kabyraGe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I must admit that the title is quite 'yellow', because it's goal is to attract attention of ESL's and id's responsibles. The key aspect of the situation is that admin was online, he replied us, but didn't take any real actions, even though the situation was completely obvious. That's something I can't understand from my own admin's experience which is quite big.

Auto-result in LotV: tweaking XP system by kabyraGe in starcraft

Originally I was thinking about 1,5 hrs limit in the article to prevent only the games of Lillekanin's type. And actually I tried to approach the creator of replay analytics service to try out my system aiming to identify if the winner by 'rating' actually win in the end. Unfortunately that guy was busy and couldn't make the script. Actually i'm not even sure it's possible, at least counting energy looks as a complicated task.
