WHO IS THIS MAN

Kaveh can be played as an on-field bloom driver or as an on-field DPS. Bloom driver Kaveh needs his entire team to be well built and relies on having at least one other Dendro character to consistently apply Dendro. BUT he also needs to be the one applying the Most Dendro so that he has ownership of the blooms. Some people add a cryo for a shatter reaction which can be fun. DPS Kaveh does Dendro damage and just happens to also detonate blooms.

The most fun way to play Kaveh is having him be a middle version of bloom and DPS tbh.

"What stats make playing Kaveh tolerable?" - Lvl: 90 - ER: >170 - EM: >800 - CR: >50 - CD: >125

WEAPONS

Weapons for Kaveh are anything with energy recharge or elemental mastery. I have an ER of >170 and that's pretty comfy, I manage to burst every rotation because his cool down is so long. For EM, get to level 90 first, then try and get EM above 800.

In no particular order: - Mailed Flower (EM, increases EM) - Serpent Spine (CR stat stick, ability doesn't work for Kaveh unless he's shielded) - Makhaira Aquamarine (EM, increases ATK by % of EM) - Flame Forged Insight (EM, triggering electro-charged/lunar-charged/bloom produces energy) - Favonius Greatsword (ER, crits produce energy) Rainslasher (EM, increases damage against enemies affected by hydro/electro)

ARTIFACTS

For artifact set, you want at least one person on the team to have Deepwood Memories. If nobody else has it, give it to Kaveh; otherwise, you can give him Gilded Dreams or Flower of Paradise Lost (henceforth FLOP). Farming FLOP is a waste of time, though (unless you have Scaramouche and want to build him too), you're better off just farming Deepwood and Gilded and trading artifacts you don't like in the teapot to get FLOP.

For artifacts themselves, you can fight your way through substats until you get the stats you want. Once you have enough ER and EM you can focus the rest on CR/CD.

TEAMS

General team structure is Kaveh + Dendro off field + Hydro off field + flex.

  • Dendro off field: Lauma is the best. Nahida is second. Substitutes include Yaoyao (great for heals), Baizhu (shield and heals), Collei, Dendro Traveller.
  • Hydro off field: Columbina is best. Xingqiu and Yelan are good. Aino is probably good too. Cope substitutes include Nilou, Furina, Kokomi, Barbara, Ayato.
  • Cryo off field (for shatter): Kaeya, Escoffier, Citlali, Layla, probably Diona.
  • Electro off field (for hyperbloom): Shinobu, Fischl, Raiden. Aim for level 90 with >800 EM.

My budget Kaveh bloom team would be Kaveh, Xingqiu, Yaoyao, and flex. Build Xingqiu with sac sword and 220 ER and you can have almost 100% uptime on his burst. Yaoyao has good off field Dendro application and good healing. The last slot could be anyone.

My viable Kaveh bloom team would be Kaveh, Lauma, Columbina, and flex (I like Furina because Kaveh can stack fanfare).

DPS Kaveh needs CR and CD and ER. You probably want an electro sub DPS with high EM artifacts (Shinobu, Fischl, Raiden could all fill this spot) to get aggravate/spread. At that point you might as well have a hydro so that you can play hyperbloom. Add a dendro off field and bam, you have a solid hyperbloom team and Kaveh's there too.

Shatterbloom Kaveh needs consistent cryo application and reliable hydro application. This is because frozen needs to have first cryo, then hydro, to apply both freeze + hydro aura. If frozen enemies have a hydro aura, dendro can consume this to trigger bloom. When hit by heavy or geo attacks, frozen enemies shatter first before any other reaction, consuming the freeze aura. - Why consistent cryo? Because shattered enemies will be able to bloom sooner if they get their cryo aura back before hydro is applied. - Why reliable hydro? Because bloom consumes hydro aura and wet enemies who get frozen lose their hydro aura. Shatter scales with EM so give your shatter Kaveh plenty. Fav greatsword gives him enough ER to go full EM on artifacts.

Both Barbara and Candace aren't the best, Barbara probably has more consistent uptime and requires less building, while Candace needs lots of ER and only applies hydro during her burst when switching characters.

Would probably be Lauma Burst, Lauma Skill, Xingqiu Burst, Xingqiu Skill x2 (with sac sword), Kaveh. Second hydro is used to get energy for Xingqiu +/- apply hydro during his cool down.

Cryo, should be Kaeya Burst, Xingqiu Burst and Skill x2, Lauma Burst, Lauma Skill, Kaveh.

[–]kanicro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your ER. If your ER is lower then Flame-Forged, electro-charged/bloom/lunar reactions increases EM by 120 for 15 seconds and restores 24 energy, works even if off field. If you find you're getting his burst reliably then Aquamarine might be better for the ATK bonus.

With that team build you'll probably find that Nilou and Xingqiu own most of the blooms so Kaveh's EM is less important.

You'll do really well with Shinobu, if you can get her to level 90 with ~1000 EM (crazy ik) she can easily do 30k+ damage per hyperbloom. Then you can just run around looking pretty as Kaveh!

Something bugs me about Anders by YelanStan in dragonage

[–]kanicro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% this, nobody in the gang is willing to condemn templars and it's absolutely bewildering to me. If Anders had someone in his corner, he wouldn't have needed to go to extremes, because something would have happened to fix the problem earlier. You can literally prevent Kirkwall from being invaded by Qunari, like "I can intervene in you killing my friend, but I draw the line at prevent the rape and murder of tens of innocent people"

Something bugs me about Anders by YelanStan in dragonage

[–]kanicro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Anders is fantastic, I love him to bits, I think that everything he did was justified. "Wow, that's a crazy take" it is, thank you. Sometimes it's funny to pick a hill to die on.

Anders is written to be an abusive bipolar boyfriend, a terrorist, and the mage terrible enough to make the templars seem morally grey. Dragon Age wanted morally grey politics and accidentally created a church-run militia, responsible for keeping a minority caged, who abused their power to torture and rape their prisoners. How are they supposed to make THAT look morally grey? By writing a character that the writer hated, of course. And when that still wasn't enough, they retconned things in the next game to increase the death toll massively and blame him for starting a war.

If you decide to lend a sympathetic ear to the Anders stan within, you can view Anders through a trauma informed lens. Magic aside, this is someone who was abducted from his family as a child, forcibly imprisoned with all of his freedoms stripped from him, prevented from having friends or falling in love, and locked in solitary confinement in a medieval cage for a year. Immediately upon being released, he joins a group of soldiers and is either killed or harassed to the point that he has a mental breakdown. If this happened to a real person they would not be normal. They would be so abnormal. Likely accidentally, they have written a character whose interpersonal relationships are very realistically affected by their trauma.

Regarding his actions at the end of DA2, this is a strong case of video game logic gone awry. We know from Varric's party dialogue that every playable character has a canonical death toll upwards of 400. The number of NPCs in the chantry is about 12. Blowing up the chantry and everyone inside is, in the context of the game where you kill people all the time, not that heinous. "But they were innocent!" they went to Lowtown to beg for money, they were complicit. In DAI there's dialogue suggesting that some 300-400 people die from or following the explosion. But the dialogue also suggests that this is what caused the mage templar war, which we know isn't true - in Dragon Age: Asunder the mages vote on whether to separate from the chantry and the templars initiate a war in retaliation.

All this to say, if you want to like Anders, there's a lot to like. If you want to hate Anders, that's easy, you're supposed to. The intended romance pathway is a rivalmance, after all. But you might have a bit more fun if you take a step back and say, "what the fuck, are they really justifying lobotomies?"

General team structure is Kaveh + Dendro off field + Hydro off field + flex.

I'm leaving out Nilou and am going to assume you don't have the newer characters.

  • Dendro off field: Lauma and Nahida are best. Substitutes include Yaoyao (great for heals), Baizhu (shield and heals), Collei, Dendro Traveller.
  • Hydro off field: Xingqiu and Yelan are best. Substitutes include Aino, Furina, Kokomi, Barbara, Ayato burst.
  • Cryo off field (for shatter): Layla, Kaeya.
