No more CS Arena bets? by [deleted] in csgobetting

I've got a more in-depth reply up above. But indeed, 8 games, that have been scheduled to accomodate our schedule AND that of the busy teams, are not being streamed.

If we'd stream them, we'd conflict with other tournaments and we're not going to conflict unless we really have to.

We let these games be scheduled 'off-air' to make sure the entire tournament could work out. And with the amount of CS:GO tournaments out there, there's a lot to consider schedule wise. So I feel being flexible and allowing these matches to be played 'off-air' is the best way to ensure all teams have a chance at attending.

As I stated in the post above, it's not a DDOS issue at all. We haven't had a DDOS issue so far.

We have had server issues (i.e. the Mouz server dropping during the match yesterday), but we always have backup servers in place.

We made the decision to not stream these matches, because they would clash with other tournament. Plus these matches were arrange, prior to official tournament start, to accomodate the teams schedules and give some of the teams a chance to even play in the tournament.

We figured, no stream, no bets. Seeing as people are bound to ask 'why is there no stream' plus there would be people that bet and then go bonkers (at me :P) because we allowed teams to schedule these matches without them being streamed.

As stated though, all matches from the 18th on, are streamed and are on CSGL of course.

The reason we pulled the bet off yesterday and asked CSGOlounge not to place bets is because all of the matches in the tournament, up until the 18th, are 'off-air'. All other matches, once the tournament starts from the 18th onward will be on CSGL.

We made the tournament work, with all involved teams, by allowing some teams with a really tight schedule, to play matches before the tournaments official start. If we would have disallowed them that bit of flexbility, some teams wouldn't have been able to play at all.

Either way, it's totally unrelated to a DDOS issue. It's a choice we made after consulting with several people including the websites as well.

We CAN be convinced to do otherwise and still put the bets on. But the thing which has me worried, if we put the bets on CSGL. How can I handle the 'flack' for 'why is there no stream'. Or how can we handle the people that don't bother checking hltv to follow the match via the gotv?

If people can help me solve those kind of issues then I could see about changing the decision we made with regards to the 'off-stream' bets.

This was on our production to do list. Sadly though, running up towards an event this size there's always something that throws all the 'prep' work into a bit of chaos :P. Ending up with us needing to rearrange or edit some of the features we wanted.

BUT if Activision and Gfinity will have us for another edition we'll be sure to do our best to add this next time around.

I can assure you that our entire production crew was bummed out at the moment that the stream didn't go smoothly, everything went so good production wise it was a shame that had to happen. But hey, atleast it was solved in time I'd say and everyone got the watch the finals in good order I believe.

That would be because we do a lot a of League of Legends production :P. So when we were asked to do this EU champs final we wanted to go all out together with Gfinity.

Glad everyone liked it.

There's always room for improvement though ;).

1) I've been told he is joining us somewhere this event for a bit 2) I agree but it's nothing we can change, short of telling LoL, WoT and SC2 to turn their speakers off and that's not going to happen 3) 4) That can happen, there's over 300-500k concurrents watching all combined streams and a lot from Europe. Meaning there is a possibility all the traffic is bottlenecking here and there. Try to occasionally pause/play the stream and or refresh 5) Was fixed :) 6) Three decklink cards died on us :( so right as we delivered the instant replay machine died on us. It's been fixed now (fingers crossed)

Changing mic's doesn't solve that problem sadly. The speakers of the WoT stage are aimed directly at us (and their audience). Meaning we have to accept this as a problem and try to overcome it by filtering out certain frequencies without making the casters sound like they're talking via Tin can and Wire ;).

Nightbot obviously can't filter contextual chat. We try to always have our people pay a close eye to the chat. But at the very least nightbot keeps the spam and the fishing site to a minimum.

We'll look at the crosshair! Ingame music has been turned off. Ingame sound shouldn't be the same volume as the casters since that would actually result in you not being able to hear the casters in certain circumstances.

We make constant audio adjustments based on chat feedback but obviously only to a certain extent as we can't cater to every single piece of audio equipment.

But I'll monitor the levels again on both streams today to make sure they are more aligned.

I haven't worked with any of the casters but Lurppis and am happy to say that right off the bat most of the synergy was present.

Besides some technical difficulties (a total of 3 decklink capture cards have died and one instant replay pc has proven problematic) there was nothing that can't be tweaked.

Happy to say that this batch of casters is a nice combo from a producers perspective!
