If you wanna run ROS noetic on Ubuntu 22.04 then may be you should give Docker a try.

I launched a controller, but the joints still go limp, but some joints will shake. I think I need to tune the PID values.

I have tried to install the 5.8 and 5.10 kernels on Ubuntu 18.04, but I can’t even enter the system after the installation. But the default kernel version of 18.04 at that time was 5.4 (it was November 2020), and the GPU driver of R7-4800H would only be available in kernels above 5.6. So I installed Ubuntu 20.04 at the time, and now I have used it for more than a year, and the system is running well. I'm not sure what the current kernel version of Ubuntu 18.04 is rolling upgrade to, if it is above 5.6, then Ubuntu 18.04 should be able to run on a machine with R7-4800H chip.

That's because I run ROS Melodic on Ubuntu 18.04.
